Re: Tail Light Trim
I don't think you'll find it in the aftermarket market. I also liked the look, and I hunted down a DVD of the series just to watch that episode. Unfortunately there was no coverage on what he did on the tail lights or how. One of the other members on here (Mike from Washington) had imitated the look using plastic-chrome flexible stick on trim. I liked that and followed his lead, and I liked it so much that I added a second ring to echo the late 50s/early 60s birds.
I'd love to have real metal rings, but for now this is what I was able to achieve:Attached Files

I used Cowles 3/8" Chrome, but would buy the metal rings in an instant, if they were available.Attached Files

Re: Tail Light Trim
I wonder if there's some other make/model/year that might have a similar part that can be used? I like the look also.PK- 2002 Premium Blue/Full Accent/Whisper White Top VIN#16336

Re: Tail Light Trim
I too think this modification is great. It's subtle and nostalgic.
From our experience, the 1/8" flexible chrome-plastic trim you can buy at your local auto parts store is the easiest, and the most least expensive option.
I thought we might want to make this product available in our store in a stainless steel material, when I saw someone here post this modification, years ago, here on TBN. We had trouble with the Stainless Steel material bending to the contour of the tail light. Unfortunately, we could not do the waterjet cutting manufacturing production for this type of product.
Anyhow, great job! I love this modification. Simple, yet elegant, in my opinion.

I have some 3/16 X 3/16 brass bar stock, I'm thinking of bending it to shape and braze it together then getting it chromed and install moulding tape on them for installation???I'll keep you posted on how it works out. Still in the planning stage.2004 Merlot Roadster W/Light Oak Ragtop
