Re: wrench light on dash board
Two thoughts come to mind .... COPs or ETG Valve.
The engine wrench means the engine is in "cripple mode" to get you home. Don't drive until you can get a diagnostic run at the dealership and no quick starts; drive her easy to get her there.

Re: wrench light on dash board
my wife was doing the driving when going up a steep hill the car stuttered and the light can on - she turned the car off and started it and continued on her way... made it home safe - should she drive it to work tomorrow????

Re: wrench light on dash board
Put a search in on this website using the word wrench. You will find numerous issues that members have had with the wrench symbol. Besides the COPS issue you could have a problem with the throttle body. There is a voltage sensor that can go bad on the wireless throttle.sigpic

Re: wrench light on dash board
thanks for all the help...
and here are a couple of things:
- light does go out after shutting down the engine.
- came on once more (wife said) when on the highway
- searched "wrench light" on this board and learned alot
- most likely, unless anyone else can persude otherwise, will drop it off (which is a pain in the a**) to have a dyno check on it...
- ps - you know I'm the new guy here, and for a first-timer this was indeed helpful...

Re: wrench light on dash board
Kevin, BTW .... NEVER wash the engine compartment with a high jet water spray.
.
You are just asking for a COPs problem. Both times I ever had a COPs repair it was after the engine was spray washed with a high pressure hose by some flunkie who didn't know better at a dealership:

Re: wrench light on dash board
ok here is the scoop... not enough time or energy on my part to tell you ALL the diognostic tests performed - however after a coil stress test was performed it was determined that 7 were found to have erratic waveforms - replaced all 8 as solution & that's it... drove it around for a while, got on it and no problems...
