I've looked through the top storage/hoist threads and thought it would be interesting to get some statistics on how people remove/store their top. If you have more than one way (or more than one top), you can pick more than one category. This should help determine how many people use hoists and also how many with hoists leave their top suspended.

We, my wife & I take our HT off/on with the manual hoist. I would really like to keep the HT hanging from the hoist but it would hang over the bed of my pick up. And we have to climb in & out of the bed to reach stuff stored on shelves built on the walls of the garage. Weird HUH?
So together we struggle getting the HT tipped up onto the stand, after we lower it all the way down to the floor. Its fun. Yeah Right!Mike

The red hard top that came with my car is stored on its stand in a spare room in the house. My cashmere top is stored in the electric hoist when not on the car. I use the hoist probably 8-10 times per month to switch modes.~Jimmy

Not meaning to hi-jack--but being a newbee here, where do I find info on these "hoist' I hear about-?--Thanks-- BTW--I get a neighbor friend to help with it and it goes on the stand in the garage---thanks again--TomComment

You can use the search feature at the top of the page and enter "hoist" to get a lot of info about types. Some have built their own (with "how to" info) and others have purchased from different companies. This post from Dot lists some of those companies:

It surprises me that almost 60% remove their hardtop manually and store it on the stand. I am not sure why it surprises me but it just does.Comment

Need to get it off, but need to find some new helpers here. But I too have a hoist still in the box that needs to be installed. Maybe I'll stay here long enough to do it.Comment

Although I have 11' ceilings in my garage, I still store it on the floor in the garage. I just cannot bring myself to leaving it hanging over the car. I know its safe, but.......

I take mine off with one other persons help and store it on the stand covered in my outside large shed. Take it off in the spring when top down weather arrives, put it on in the fall when top down weather has gone by the wayside!
