    i cant vote. we didnt get the stand with the car, previous owner kept it, so we got one after from Dan Newman, we got it in nov 04 and did not get the straps.

      Vic, sorry there, unless you can find out what year Bird the stand came from or maybe a dealer purchase somewhere along the line.

      Another question: I never looked but is there a model number on the stands? If so I wonder if it's different with or without straps.

        i have no idea it probably came out of a parts bin, it was dropshipped from ford to me.

          I have two stands. They are identical except for the straps. The stand that came with a 2003 has the extra straps, the 2004 does not. I think they stopped the straps with the last 2003.

            joe 166, are there any numbers stamped on the racks or printed on them somewhere? That is if you can get to them.

                Perhaps another interesting poll would be how many carts have the defect wherein one of the locking pins does not lock into place with the arms extended. This defect made its first appearance sometime in 04 and Ford never bothered to correct it. The carts which came with our PCR and 05 MSB had the defect as well as the four replacements the dealer provided us.

                  My '05 stand has straps because I didn't trade in the straps with the '02!

                    I voted that our 2004 has straps because our 2002 does, we have the 2004 roof on the 2002 stand.
                    the 2004 stand is still in the bag, I thought it has straps in the bag.
                    Next time I will check before I vote!!!

                    I think to o2 blue looks better with the hard top. It looks unkept with the black convertable top up!

                    The 04 silver car however suits the black convertable top!!

                      So just replace the black top with a white or Navy top, both would look sharp, It's only money.

                        I voted what I assume. I put the cart up in the storage area of the garage (all folded up) because I have a lift to take the top off and store it. Allows for single person top take-off or install.

                          Someday, I hope we can either have a lift in the garage, or live in a place where we do not have to put the top on - unless we want to.

                            That house I'm building is going to have 12' ceilings in the garage...I may put in one of those electric lifts, to store a small car over the Bird. Checking out costs now

                              My '02 stand has the straps. I put a set of the seat belt shoulder strap pads on them so that no marks are left on the hardtop.
