  • What is a Garage Queen!

Lets do a poll on this. Lets use adverage milage driven per year as the determining factor in this. If you have a 3 year old car and it has 30,000 miles on it that would be 10,000 per year. But if you take that same car and after three years you only have 10,000 miles on it I would say that's pretty close to being a Garage Queen.

Disclaimer: This poll means nothing, just doing it for sh-ts and grins!!

I have 3 queens. The 02 Tbird with 11,000 +/- miles. The 59 Corvette with 79,000 +/- miles and the 06 VW with 4500 miles. The VW odometer doesn't register when being pulled.!!!

Thanks for reminding me Bob, the '75 is 32 years old with 17,000 miles. Definite queen.

I drove mine more the first year....definitely going more garage queen now, but more because it is more economical to drive the Prius as my daily driver than the Tbird...I'm not against driving my Tbird, only against wasting my money on gas for work commuting! LOL
CatBrd2 is the new license tag! Meowgal was moved to the Prius.

Mine will also be a garage queen because work and everything I need is within a 15 mile radius. It will be put away in the winter. My 93 capri only has 93,000

I marked just show me the pole. I've only had the car since May and living in Southwest Florida it's pretty hot driving it with the top down(the way I prefer to drive it) in the summer. When fall arrives, I plan on driving it more. I will most likely be in hte 5000 K range.

Average about 3000 miles per year on the Tbird. Want to talk about LOW MILEAGE - our 1995 Lexus SC300 has only 30,000 miles but not a "garage queen" as it can't get garage space because we only have a two car garage.
I thought the SC300 had low mileage, but then saw Gene's 1975 copper Starfire with 17,000 miles.

Driving your Tbird to work is not wasting gas.
Anytime you can start the Bird to go someplace, it will put a smile on your face, so how can you look at that as wasting gas.
What a better way to fix a bad day at work than to run out at lunch time or after work pop the top and instant smile.
I only have 2 miles to work, but put the top down to and from work, everyday its not raining in the summer. The guys laugh at me when I drop the top to drive two blocks for a sandwich at lunch time,

Just put on 300+ miles of top down driving this week-end. I guess I'm marginal but the queen will have a new garage shortly.

Re: What is a Garage Queen!

We are retired, no commute to work miles here. Our 05 Bird is our only car. It arrived Dec.,2004 just in-time for Christmas so I think I will say we started driving it in Jan of 05 and it now has 20000 miles. That works out to be a little over 7700 miles a year. By numbers it becomes a garage queen, but in reality considering this is a very small community of 180,000 people we do not consider it a queen.

Now I also have a 1992 F250 Super Cab PU. with 90000 miles on it. The math makes it a 6000 mile/year and it truely is a queen. And it looks like one too!

                        Roger,

Is this the new HOUSE or garage?? Please don't let Sugardaddy see this...we will be moving soon!! Oh...to late...he wants!!! Glad to see there will be a place for Blackie to sleep when we come see you!! That garage would get us in to a LOT of trouble!!!

Needed to add a less than 2,000 miles a year selection. Six years old in October and just hit 10,000 miles.

Lets see, I would have to say all but the two daily drivers are definately garage queens:

I know someone with some serious garage queen(S)! They have less than a 200 miles on them! Maybe I could convince this person to post a pic or two.

My car has 17K on it now. I have had it since Oct of 04 but I only drive her in the summer time, well nice days. No rain no snow! If it looks like it might rain, she sits in the garage! Plus I used to think the less miles the better but now, I think it is a waste to keep such a fine car that I have no intentions of ever letting go just sit! I am young and have a LONG life ahead of me so I might as well enjoy it!
