Re: What is a Garage Queen!

We purchased our 04 bird in 05 with 2500 miles. She has 43000 now. Lynda drives the bird to work when I need the Kia or it is in the shop. I drive the bird on pretty mornings just for enjoyment. We have had the Kia since Jan 09 and it has 32000 miles and my 94 F150 has 124000. At the rate I am putting miles on the truck, it will last for the rest of my life.

In the first 3 years of it's life we put about 45,000 miles on the Bird, it was an everyday driver. Since then in the past 5 years we have adv. 5000 miles per year going to TBN events. Other then going to events it stays in the garage now.

Like Charley, I'm retired, so I'm not a daily driver.
We have 2 garage queens, the '04 T-Bird has 3,000 miles, and my wife's
2002 Lincoln Cartier has 30,000 miles. The '06 Jeep GC is the main transportation.
Makes the others special when they do get driven!

Re: What is a Garage Queen!

So, question for all of us low mileage garage queens, do you, or don't you, change your oil every 6 months regardless of mileage?

I try, but I wind up changing oil every 9-10 months or so.

By the way, the true definition of a garage queen is........................ the female spouse of the garage king. Badaboom!

(I know, I know, Jerrym3, don't quit your day job, except I have no job, so how can I quit doing nothing?)

Re: What is a Garage Queen!

I change my oil once a year regardless of mileage (if I based oil changes on mileage, she STILL wouldn't have had one). I check the oil every time I take her out to see if it "looks funny," but it always looks normal and the dealership folks say it looks good every time they've changed it, so I stick with the once a year schedule.

Re: What is a Garage Queen!

The 04 Raven is definitely not a Garage Queen - She has been a daily driver for 2 + years now. She is getting ready to roll 55k.

I think I put about 12k miles on the 03 Raven over 4 years, less than 4k on either of the 007s, and about 3k on the Merlot.

Deciding to drive this one daily was the best decision I ever made ...

Re: What is a Garage Queen!

I have now had "Annie" for 4 years, got her in '06. She had just 10,000 miles on the odometer, now 61,000 and change. Definitely not a queen, but a good looker just the same.

I'm a little like Jay Leno (without his money), he drives 'em till they're down to needing a restoration and then gets it done. I may not be the one paying to do a restoration on my Tbird but someone will, some day. I just want to enjoy it as long as I can.
                    Cal

It is October 1, 2015 and I now have 91,500 miles on "Annie". It would have been 96,000 but I cheated and used my wife's Forester for The TBN Blackhills expedition. It just wouldn't accomodate all the packing demands thrust upon it. Thankfully, Gary Himes loaned me his 154,000 mile 2002 Thunderbird for the weekend of caravans. Everyone was happy that the SUV was parked at the hotel.

Pleased to say MMM just turned 40,000. Really is just our "Date Car" now. The Neiman WAS my Driver, but she is back home in Michigan where she was born, safely tucked away with fellow creme rides of our Hobby's industry. My 64 is my "Cruisin" car, and goes out most nights. The 63, share's the lime light with my 53 Crestliner to the various Car Shows. The Mustang's, well there just my toy's for fleeing spirited with. Having finally hit the "Golden Age", we bought a new daily driver. :-)

I purchased my 2005 with 6400 miles. I intend to put less than 200 miles a year on it for while.

Oops! I hit the wrong button, since my odometer is in Km's. so it is actually just 4300 miles per year.

Drive it like you stole it !!!
