While I really like the 58 bird, I'll have to go with the 64-66. Yesterday I went through West Point,Ms. and saw a guy detailing a 62. It was that medium turquoise/aqua with the top down but had a cream or white continental kit on the back. Maybe the top was white or something but it looked a little off as no other white color on body.

Gene had a band new 56 when we met and got married. Although we had lots of T-Birds thru the years - My favorite will always be the 56. Yes that is me in the black bird. On our honeymoon, January 1957.

Mine too. Just a great design, and the 'Roadster' package with tonneau cover and Kelsey Hayes wheels is an unbeatable look.
I bought a 1961 hardtop coupe at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2004. Beautiful original condition and only 58,000 miles, for a mere $ 8,100. I sold it to Jim Powers, whose concepts and full-scale clay models led to the 1961 Thunderbird. He recently won the 'Designer's Choice' award at the annual Art Center car show with it.

Phil, got a morning coffee friend that had a new '63 hardtop but wants a Sport Roadster. Tony Liscio played for Dallas Cowboys in the glory days. Has two Super Bowl rings for his work. Bought the '63 when he played for Green Bay. A/C delete car. Transferred to Dallas the next year and couldn't live without A/C so he buys a new '64 with air. Took my Coco to coffee last week and Tony wants to see her. After looking her over he wants to trade rides for a week. Tony has a fancy F-150. I laughed and said I'd think it over.

Great story Newman. If you traded rides with him for the week he'd probably make an offer to trade cars permanently. Tell him now's a good time to find a deal on a Retro of his own!

I see I am only one of 4 that like the later models. My favorite is the '97, the one I currently own. It came off the assembly line 10 days before production stopped after 42 years. It is pretty much "The Last of its Kind", and is getting scarcer by the day.
I have owned an '86, '94, two '97's and currently a 2003 DSB.
Actually, all were my favorite.

Having owned a 54 and 57 big Fords the 55-57 are my favorite. My very close second is the 61-63 bullet Bird, especially the 62 Sports Roadster. Before we decided to purchase a retro bird and make a trip across country in a classic car we looked at 55-57 and 61-63 plus a bunch of others. I ruled out the baby bird because it drives like a boat, so did my 57 Skyliner. Another reason is I have to have AC and disk brakes, I know you can add these but then it's not original and that ruins it for me. The standard 390 in the 61-63 gets maybe 10 mpg, with M code engine maybe 8-9 at the time we purchased our Bird gas was close to $5 a trip across country would be about $2k in fuel alone. Having said all that my retro is costing me a fortune in parts/repairs.

I've owned 6 Birds starting in 84. The one I liked the best was the 87 intercooled turbo coupe with fictional hood scoops.
