From looking at the poll results so far, it appears the 2002 was the best seller of all the years. Then 04, 05, and 03 in that order. Was there a problem with the 03? Leroy

I believe this is a combination of two things: 1) the buyers with initial excitement and interest bought the 2002 model when they first came out (plus the two "fashion" colors only available for the 2002), and 2) a numbers thing, Ford held over the 2002 model year and made more than they had planned, and made fewer 2003 models as a result. Check Dot's web site the the exact production numbers year-to-year.

Hi! Just joined in an attempt to learn about a cold start engine noise that disappears in about 2 seconds. It's like start up with a dry oil filter and occurs when the car has sat at least 5 hours or more. My bird is a 2004 Merlot premium with tan top and interior. Thanks!

No. Matter of fact, there were some improvements that started in 2003.
Ford Thunderbird production was greatest in 2002 and then declined every year from there. Here are the totals from Dot's Porthole Authority website:

Getting ready to become a two-Thunderbird family here-found a Merlot/Light Sand in Maryland thru Carmax for 17k-having it transferred to Indianapolis for purchase. Jill likes driving the bird so much that she agreed to trade in her Chevy Cavalier. Had to throw that in-her dad was a patternmaker for GM for 42 years, and the family has never owned anything but GM
Purchased my black bird 12/13/03. It was one of three new 03's sitting on the Beach Ford lot .
It was love at first sight (don't tell my wife). It's been 5 wonderful years(with the bird that is).

I bought my Cashmere new, #762/1500; order date - 1/21/05; build date - 3/30/05; delivery to dealer 4/14/05; sold / bought date - 4/15/05. I bought my car on tax day, trying to justify my rat race of a life with a new toy. I have since slowed it down considerably and enjoyed every minute of driving my T'bird.
