Purchased mine at age 50 in June of 2009. Liked them when they came out and knew one day had to own one. Found mine while looking for/researching something else(isn't that how it works a lot?). Was the colour I liked and the price was right.
The sixth T-Bird I've owned ,first car (that I could drive legally ,that is -LOL) was a 1971 Sport Coup(the 'fast back') , and owned others of the "Glamour Birds" generation('67-71).

Thoroughly enjoy my 2002, though wished it had come with auto-stick that year. Well , time to go enjoy .....

Well Harry- There have been four owners of Black Beauty, one I've met, former owner Tom Oldfather, and now I've spoken to Bob Peppers a former TBNer back in 04. I'd just turned 65...when I discovered Black Beauty...

66 I bought it for my wife so she could drive it to work since the 2010 Mustang Convert she used to drive b4 she changed jobs and lost her designated parking. Now I worry about the retro getting messed up and she only drives it when there is no chance of rain or snow.

              66 going on 21

Have only owned GM until the Bird. White has been the preferred color, especially in the Texas heat.

Kids now on their own and doing well, so it was time to think about a toy for Mom & Dad. Saw an ad for a used white Corvette at the local Mercedes dealer (luxury dealers get some sweet trades) and took a test drive. Concluded that I could always get in the car, but might not be able to get out in a few more years, especially when it was parked next to another car.

I drive by this dealer on a regular basis and noticed a white Bird on the lot several months later, so I turned around to look and then took a drive. IMMEDIATELY HOOKED!!! Car had 29K, but I had no idea what it was worth. Went online to try to determine values and found the 2002 one owner WW Alamobird with 8400 miles for sale by an independent dealer in Houston.

Bought it over the phone. Had the seller take it to the Ford dealer down the street and paid for the certified used car inspection. The Bird passed with flying colors. Drove to Houston in a one way rental (Budget is the best for one way), picked up the Bird and drove it home.

Bottom line - one great vehicle. Living the childhood dream. One of 68,098 and there won't be any more.

1,370,759 corvettes through 2013. Ho Hum.

Re: How old were you when you bought your FIRST RetroBird???

At 69 years old I traveled to many online listings in N.C. and S.C. to look at black/black Tbirds that were in excellent condition, to find they were not in excellent condition. I have a friend living in Fayetteville, N.C. that does body work and restores classics as a his living. There was a Bird there that looked like what I wanted, so I called him and he looked at it and told me if I want a nice Bird, this is it. We drove there, the dual a/c wasnt working on the right side, and after they drove to Raleigh to get the relay, I wrote them a check and drove the NICEBIRD home. Now a few years later, I know I didn't make a mistake. It's not a garage queen, I drive it daily.
                "NICEBIRD"

After swearing not to buy another new car(17 in my lifetime) so I could retire one day, my wife got interested in convertibles, saw a "T" on e-bay at a ford dealer, went to look and bought it a few days later(54 yo)., Well it wasn't a new one.
