Re: WHEN DO YOU DRIVE YOUR BIRD

OK, we now have the results of the poll together with various comments from the membership, and it confirms what I have known all along, because the Thunderbird is a personal luxury car, most owners do not use it as daily transportation. This isn't surprising, since the car wasn't really designed to be practical. It only has two seats and an exceedingly small trunk. It is, after all, more of a toy than every day transportation. Still, you can't get angry at the RetroBird, because it is so beautiful and it drives so well. Every control is light in effort, and it handles like a dream. The car looks so cool, and driving it is really an exercise in being seen!

I am surprised that only 16 of us are daily drivers, no wonder we never see any on the road. The good news of course is that a ready supply will be waiting for the 16 of us when we wear ours out. I know you will never sell yours because your grandchildren will want it .. I'm betting that they won't...

Re: WHEN DO YOU DRIVE YOUR BIRD

It's my everyday driver, rain or shine. The only thing that parks it is snow and salt here in southeast Wisconsin. So far this year the weather has been good to us. Hardtop has been on for three weeks and I'm driving it today. Once it snows then I'll wait until winter is over and the first hard rain washes the salt off the roads before having more Fun, Fun, Fun, next year.

Whenever I need to go somewhere that is too far to walk.

Since July 2002 little red has only been in the rain a few times. I don't intentionally drive it if they are predicting rain/sleet/snow.

She is a 'princess' not a queen as she is garage kept both at home and at work. If the weather predicting is for precipitation, I take the Charger.

CARTOY is almost 8 years old. She has become my Daily Driver. She's too enjoyable to "SAVE" ...
she makes every day a Special Day!

I really need to get a hard top for the winter months... Problem is, right now I have no place to keep it when it's off!

I drive mine every day, rain, snow or shine... It shows, but I do keep it nice for having 105,000 miles on it. Need to get a few things fixed tho, the back window that's separating from the softtop and an annoying airbag light on the dash for the passenger side.

Living in Fl makes owning and dring a bird a little easier. I wouldn't drive in snow either if in North Wife drives to and from work 22 miles almost every day. On weekend if it's just us the Bird any more the Expedition. I still drive my truck most.

Poll is closed. I'd be a "daily driver, sun country". Though I don't get out on the road every day, when I do, it's the Bird unless more room is needed. Margie grocery-shops with it.
