Re: How Did You Find TBN.

Thom, I like your car and avatar. Welcome, I missed your entry. This is the best retro t-bird site on the web. It certainly is the most active of all the Thunderbird forums I regularly visit and hands down it's the most social and inviting.

Thanks Ski, I rather like your bird as well. This is my first "retro bird" and I'm in love with it. I'm glad to have found a place where people not only share an affinity for the cars but knowledge as well.

Re: How Did You Find TBN.

I also do not remember when or how I found TBN. I think it was shortly after I bought my TBird and looking around on the web.

Most importantly we did find TBN, that reminds me I need to make another donation to TBN and believe all of us that can should donate some how to this GREAT site. I thank all those that have a part in starting and keeping this site going. I appreciate all the time and effort to make the changes on the site.

I first saw my TBird on my local Ford dealer lot, Meyer Ford Seward Nebraska,. I test drove it for 3 days and took it back and test drove a Mustang for couple of days, then pick-up the TBird I test dove it another 3 days, I put on almost 1000 total miles test driving my TBird before I bought. It was used and had under 24,000 miles on it.

Anyone that has looked my photo gallery knows I love my TBird.

Google – looking for better rotors and brake pads. Biggest mistake of my life, it’s cost me thousands in modifications – actually quite the opposite. This site has changed my life but in a very positive sense. I’ve met some of the kindest, friendliest and honest people that exist on this planet. Dare I say it, and I’ll hear about it for months, I even have a small glimmer of compassion for Boston fans.

I'm very tempted to make a wise-crack here, but I think I'll just say that we are all very lucky to have you in the New England flock.

Re: How Did You Find TBN.

Speaking just for myself as an owner of ThunderbirdNest, BirdWings LLC, back when things were heading south for the site we decided a change was needed. It was a long haul over time to get these changes made and get the confidence back by the members that were here from the start. I feel we have done this over the past few years and TBN is better for these changes. It's hard when starting something like this when you have no experience at doing it and dealing with the wide variety of people we have on the site.

We lost some good friends in this transition but if we were going to save TBN back in the day it was needed. For me TBN came ahead of friendship, it's looking at the Big Picture I guess. It wasn't easy for the Judge and I to take this point of view because we had some very close friends that were involved in this decision and they are no longer with us.

I'll just stop with this now and I hope everyone just enjoys TBN and what it stands for and what it is all about.

Thanks for all of the hard work. You have created the best site for the hobby! Every event I go to, I find myself telling people to go to this site for the best information on retros. And the best part is that you and the TBN membership are the greatest group of friends I could have ever dreamed of. I know you will keep the faith going with your super work. Ed

Re: How Did You Find TBN.

Found the site in April '08, 3 years after purchasing my Cashmere Bird (April '05), was online searching for wheels as a option to my originals, ended up on Dot's site, then a link to TBN, then a upcoming event in Savannah - that started it all, then Desert Thunder II in Vegas - ended up being a 3 month adventure from South Florida -15 states and 12k miles, Pappisitos Atlanta, Battleship Thunder in Wilmington, one of Toms Poker Run Cruises in South Fl., Choo Choo in Chattanooga, and maybe a few more I can't remember. Savannah is where I first met some of the best people I've ever known, then Desert Thunder II was my first to caravan, meeting David and Jeannie in Memphis through Oklahoma, being welcomed into Paul and Rosettas home in Tallequah, Ok then on to Vegas with other TBN members, and picking up cars and meeting new members all along the way. After that is has always been a treat to reconnect with new and old friends at any event possible.

Re: How Did You Find TBN.

We knew we wanted a 2005 Thunderbird. I Googled for info and found Dots site.

Because of her site I found out IG's were a low number color and because of the pictures she posted it lead me to the same dealer in Haines City FL which had 4 at the time. Thankfully since I could not find any others in FL where we live.

Having never seen IG anywhere; I made the deal based on if the color was ugly in person I was not obligated to consumate the deal.

We pulled up and "loved" the color and the rest is history.

                          Thanks Dot and TBN.

Re: How Did You Find TBN.

I was looking for a used late model convertible. Looked at lots of things, Chryslers, VWs, Chevy SSRs, Volvo, BMW, etc......and then I saw a Tbird...
Of Course! the Tbird! Little known, stopped making because of poor sales,.......and that was about it. I didn't know much about them.....

So as a veteran of Internet Auto Forums (Corvette, BMW, cadillac, MB, Murano...), I knew that the best way to get the real skinny on a car was to find the appropriate Forum.

So a google search later (I went to "the other one" and it wasn't doing much) and I ended up here.
A few hours of reading, and comparison shopping on cars.com, and I was ready to buy.
So while looking, someone here (Handyman?) pointed out a cherry 02 White at the local dealer......
Went and looked the next day. Nice.
While there I saw the Merlot, which is my color.......and the deal was done.

Not so unusual, but the crash course at TBN & Dot's site, gave me more knowledge about RetroBirds than the dealer had.....

She was a good one. Sold 12/30/2014.

A lot better car and even more exclusive, but doesn't have the Cachet the Thunderbird had. Adios, mi Amigo.

I bought my first Retro Bird in July 03 and wanted to find a site to gather information from so I did a engine search and found this place in August 03. In a few months I will be celebrating my 8th anniversary at TBN.
