I am a contract-hire here at work and found the site (via Google) thru a former member who works here (AZTB). I work at the desk he used to sit at, and seeing his car every day in the garage prompted my questions to him. He told me about this site (which he said he joined when it started), and suggested I use it as a tool to help find my car and make new friends.
The flip side was my membership proved beneficial to him when I told him about a toy Charlie Cain was selling...he then used MY membership to contact Charlie and purchase the toy.
My contract will be ending soon and perhaps after I make my next move, I'll continue what I hope to be a long friendship with the next (and then buy me a Bird!).
Yes - Jim Dube' is still a TBN member, though he hasn't been around since March.
All I can tell you is what he told me: he stated he cancelled, or 'retired' his membership in March of this year (membership roster verifies that), and you will see his gallery has also been removed. When I shared with him the toy available from Charlie Cain, he didn't have an active membership and purchased it from Charlie through my membership...no worries.
I found TBN about a year or so ago when I first became interested in the retro birds and thought it would be a fun car to own. I "Googled" for forums on the T'Bird and found this site. I've been active in a number of car and motorcycle forums over the years and think this is one of the best I've seen.
The members are great and I've learned a lot about the retro 'Birds (both good and bad ). I met Skip a month or so ago while lookiing at an '03 at a dealer in Maryland and he couldn't have been nicer. Althought I didn't buy the '03, I still love the cars and I'm still looking. I'm looking forward to becoming a "real" member and meeting more of y'all. I hope you don't mind me lurking the site until then.
I purchased my 2003 Evening Black TBIRD in Sept. 2011 and it developed the famous COP issue. I was looking how to solve the hesitation issue, I was searching the internet and stumbled onto THUNDERBIRDNEST by accident. I found lots of helpful information. I have also made some good friends.
