Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

Here in Minnesota the hardtop goes on in the fall and car doesn't get driven much after that. Soooo most of the comments come when the top is down.

    tbird05cel,
If I remember correctly Ray posted a picture with hardtop on with one of his two daughters (blonde). Looked like original from American Graffiti.

Same for me as Roger posted, drive more in good weather with hardtop in storage. Put in on in November, and drive when I can, but a lot less.

Put the hardtop on over the weekend.
Same as everyone else only drive it when the roads are clear and dry.

Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

Hardtop was put on last week, and the Bird waxed and covered. Only gets driven occ. on dry sunny days. Even here in south Mississippi, after Thanksgiving, it gets colder and often wet, as the frequent "fronts' move thorough. Was 80 today, but the forecast calls for 29 overnight tomorrow night!

Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

Put hard top on yesterday for first time since we brought the car home. Will be on about 3 months, but got to admit it does look good. I had forgot about how good two tone looks since you don't see it any more. Ironically we almost didn't go look at our PCR because we didn't think we would like the color. The color and top was why we ended up buying it. We left it off through the summer but next year it will go on in mid July thru mid Sept.

Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

First time my top's been on since 2008.

From the side and rear, I think the hardtop goes well with the trunk/rear fender line.

As for comments, hardtop on means cold weather. Don't get to see too many people outdoors when the temps drop, so the number of comments also drops.

Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

Think I'll put the hard top on this month to get ready to go up north in Jan. to Atlanta and Pappasito’s. That was the last time we had it on for the same trip last year. It will come back off after we get back to Sebring.

It's kinda funny. Most people just think we have an all black convertible without the top.

When the top is on, they ask if we traded in the convertible...

Re: Hard Top on Hard Top Off

I had a new black rag top put on my previously saddle color topped car and get a lot more comments with the black than with the tan...which had gotten pretty ratty with the crummy looking black streaks. The top installer told me that one should never leave the top down, always putting it up at night. I asked him about long term storage while the hard top is on and his advice was not to put the hard top on....ever, said the top down in the hole for a long period, or even not so long, will damage it. My question, does anybody do anything to protect the top when it is down? I was wondering about putting a silk bed sheet around it making a difference. What do you think?
