I can’t believe this hasn’t been posted yet. Watched a show about Thanksgiving on the History Channel last night and they had a deal about FruitCakes. I happen to like the things and based on the sales figures of the company they profiled it appears that many people do. I thought they were more for Christmas than Thanksgiving; in any event I decided to order one this year. Then I thought “where else would I go for advice and a little abuse”? Why TBN of course. So fellow members lets here your thoughts on Fruitcakes, if you do get one please let me know the brand/make and if there is a link to order one.

I love fruitcake but one slice of a quality brandied cake will start my gout a throbbing! So I stick to a slice when at a party as buying a whole one would put me in a wheelchair.

If you want just the fruit & nuts with very little cake try
Harry & Davids Fruit Cake Confection

      Collin Street Bakery
Good but mostly nuts, candied fruit on top only.

      Claxton Fruit Cake
A nice balance of fruit, nuts, and cake.

I used to have to sell those things for a Band fund raiser. Betcha that some of them are still around somewhere.

I made one once. My guests politely took a slice, but when my back was turned they all made for the bathroom, to flush it down.

When I lived in Texas (Farmers branch for the last 10 years I was there) We had a small cabin on Cedar Creek lake. And we would always drive over to the Collin Street Bakery in corsicana for several of their Fruitcakes...... Fantabulous! Then we started getting other things there...........

I like fruitcake also. This one is really good, made by monks at an Abbey in Oregon.

It has been so long since I have gotten a fruitcake that I can't remember any brand. Not a big thing here in California; I guess because we get reasonably priced fresh fruit essentially all year.

I usta get a Fruitcake from my first mother-in-law every year for about six years. She stopped giving them to me when she came over to visit during the Spring and saw her Fruitcake being used as my doorstop. Yup, it was a surprise visit.

She always wrapped them in aluminum foil and they were the size (but 100 x's heavier) of an Angel Food Cake. If you ever received one, you would know exactly what it was if you ever saw one again.
