  • How old are you?

I am a TBN member since last April and I would like to know who I am talking about regarding the others TBN members. A question of who am I corresponding with, in this forum? It is to give an idea of what the age of
the people are to this website.

    Re: How old are you?

Do you think that this website will be still alive within the next ten years?

What is your plan with your Tbird car within these further ten years?

    Your comments are appreciated.

    Thanks my friends.

Web site will be here as long as people are willing to run it and the next ten years I don't see much change with Tbird, At least I hope not.

TBN has survived for almost 10 years. It will be around for 10 more as long as the people come to it and I have anything to say about it.

As the poll shows, over 80% are over 50 years old and as the the age of the cars get older and the members get older, I'm sure the membership will shrink. I think opperating costs will be the biggest factor in the popularity of these cars dieing along with the original owners. The younger generation aren't interested in these cars, but like everything else there will be a few survivors. Leroy

I'm just turned 70yrs. old. Love the Bird and hope to enjoy it a lot longer. My problem my gal doesn't enjoy it as much (not a comfortable as the caddy, hair gets messed up etc.) so I don't use it as often . As Leroy said as members and owner leave so will the desire for the car..I'm also a WWII collector and the number of collectors are dwindling down as interest in younger collectors is not there. But I can see another 10yrs. for the car especially as the garage queens start coming out.

                    Funny how age changes things.

When my wife and I were dating in 65, we'd go everywhere with the top down on my 65 Corvette.

Now, I have two convertibles, and 1) she doesn't like either car, top up or down, and 2) the only time I can get her to ride in my Galaxie with the top down is at the Wildwood, NJ, Sept car show.

Whenever we go anywhere together in the summer with the retro (which is rare), it's "top up, A/C on".

I know that my car will be very well cared for by the next generation. My daughter loves convertibles. At some point I will most probably hand her the keys and watch her enjoy it. I'd rather give it to her with a warm hand than a cold one.

My motto as well as my wife's for the last several years. The hardtop will pretty much be on permantly since we put it on this fall. We never owned a convertible until the Tbird, and it has just confirmed we are not convertible type of people. I had never had one primarily because they don't look as good the equivalent HT coupes, cost more, weigh more, don't have as much structural integrity, not as fast (because they weigh more), the fabric top requires maintenance, you fry in traffic in Atlanta in the summer. If I want fresh air I'll take the motorcycle.

Claude..... I'm planning to go pretty much the same route. I'll be putting in a top hoist so that on the nice top down days I can have my cake and eat it too. I much prefer the look of the car with the top on.

Ditto, Claude and Gene, the top stays on. It looks best to me that way.

I am surprised that some members prefer the top stays on. Is-it because the weather and the sun are too hot??? What is the purpose of a convertible????

For me, the top should stays down in the beautiful days in Canada during the summer.
Summer is short here. If not, I am not interested to use my Tbird. I would rather use my Venza with the glass sunrooof. Since I have bought my Tbird with the hard top, this one has not been installed yet. I just keep it in the garage.
