  • Medium Steel Blue-Black Hard Top What Do You Think?

What do you think of the color mix of 2005 Medium Steel Blue with Black HT.

I just got the Hard Top home yesterday driving through a snow storm so please over look the mess on the Bird.

Want to share what the color combination looks like. Feel free to express your opinions, I've already made up my mind, it is NOT a keeper.

Combination may be OK but I have always prefered a light on top with dark on bottom in a 2 tone configuration. If I was going with a different color top on your MSB, I would probably go with white myself.

I don't know Mike, it's not bad but I'm not sure I would want it on my MSB. I especially like the little man with the lantern. Is that a caricature of you?

Keep the top just paint it white!

Or add a white vinyl to it!

I don't think it looks bad, Mike, but I think I would prefer the same color. Who's the carved guy guarding the car?

            Mike,
As an owner of a MSB, I wouldn't do it. It doesn't look bad, but it does nothing for me. I think Paul's suggestion of a whisper white top (if you really want a different color top) is probably the best selection for an MSB or paint the top navy blue if you want a dark color. I'm not into different colors so I really like the MSB top.

              John,
Just when I was about to say we had almost the same taste in cars you gave this advice.

I kinda like it, esp if you put a black stripe on the car. If you do not like the top how about the top from the pcr or the cashmere.

BLACK NO, BUT THERE IS A MEMBER HERE WHO HAS PAINTED A TOP THE DARK BLUE THAT WAS SCHEDULED FOR THE 2006 THUNDERBIRDS, THAT REALLY LOOKS GOOD. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT PAINT IT WHITE. GLAD TO SEE YOU ARE BACK AND HAVE THE TOP.

                      Mike,
Your black hardtop would not have been my first choice, but it is OK. If I recall correctly you picked up the top on ebay for a "steal" even if you had a bad drive to go get it. Because of the price, it certainly would be worth having it painted. A New England member has the MSB with a platinum (silver) top (which by the way has never been off the car) and I think the combo is superb together. I like the PCR combo and I think the MSB with platinum has a similar look.

Since most of the retros have black convertible tops, a black hardtop shouldn't be too farfetched on any body color.

Mike, for my 2 cents, I don't like it - personal opinion though

It's fine with me. I sure wouldn't want all retro's to look alike. I do like lighter tops however.
