    I am wondering if this car is also a piece of junk by seeing the rear and front bushing issues without knowing the cause. Same as COPs issue and others. Most of the people take care of their birds (garage and so on) but they are still facing with issues that regular cars do not have on a daily use. It is an expensive car for repairs as I can see.
    Am I wrong to say that, other than the look of this car which is beautiful?

      The cost of a part is based on how many are produced. Each part produced pays for a portion of the design, testing, tooling and production aids that maybe required. 70,000 chrome grills and 2,000 chrome hood scoop trim.

            I have one of each new in wrappings, they are metal. Someone must be confused. I would think they were aluminum.

                  Okay John....Maybe we'll all end up painting them the color of the car. That would be different. Maybe a photo-shopped version could be convincing. Although mine are as good as new (knock on wood)

                      Nine to twelve plus year old vehicles are probably going to have some issues, whether you drive 'em, garage 'em or put 'em in a museum. To think otherwise is not logical. They are corporately designed, man-made vehicles with planned obsolescence just like any other modern consumer product.

                      Ford has done better than others by stepping up on the COPs issue with the '03-'05s. They did kind of screw over the '02 owners, but they could have done the same with all of them without much consequence. If the bushings went south during warranty - they replaced them. And while the grille is plastic, can't say I've heard of that many that have broken over the past 12 years. I'll bet if they were metal we would be hearing about a lot of bent ones.

                      If you think Ford has had issues, what about the almighty Toyota and Lexus brands - they've had more serious recalls by far. And after the taxpayers saved GM's bacon - they rewarded everyone by lying about how dangerous their cars were.

                      All in all, I'm pretty happy with my little Ford and plan on keeping it for a long time, no matter what its perceived flaws by other owners.

                            Thanks Paul, for sure, it is well said as others mentioned. Mr. Lawrence will provide his own comments.

                            From my point of view, I am still afraid of this car because we do not know what will be the next unexpected pieces that will fail and not supposed to after many years. The bushings issue is a good example of what Ford missed because it was not supposed to be before 10 years old. "Du jamais vu" for a company working in this domane after several years. No forgiveness.
