A friend of mine who is in Marketing at Ford told me that when Ford introduced the TBird they used some of the original colors--which we all know. In Ford's infinite wisdom, they decided that the younger potential owners would be attracted to the RetroBird if it had some of the more contemporary metallic colors rather than just the nostalgic original colors. Looking at our poll and my person observations of people driving the new Birds, it obviously didn't work--but then, Ford did IMHO a terrible Marketing Promo on the Bird with little promo after a premature media hype and late dealer deliveries.

They can call it middle age issues all they want - all I know is that we're finally at a place in our lives financially where we can now purchase all the things we really wanted when we were 20-years-old but were spending the $$ on family needs.

Regarding the comment on color choices for the new Thunderbird, I think Ford has done a pretty good job overall by offering a variety of retro colors as well as some more current metallic colors. The only color we haven't seen yet that I would like to see would be a dusk rose which I'd love to see on the new Thunderbirds in a metallic paint.

Well, it's not surprising that baby-boomers rule here. I'm 49 and on the younger end of the largest group which parallels the baby-boomer generation...the original Thunderbird came out when we were being born to 20 yrs. old.

Well, if they had waited until October to post the poll, then I'd have had to move up to the next age bracket!
This is interesting..BLUNBIRD, post the polls you mentioned.

Re: Demographic info of TBN Members

I remember reading, recently, about a pro baseball or football player, who won a new Tbird, as a MVP award.
His comment was that he didn't want an "old man" car.

I noticed of the 4 votes, 35 yoa or younger, only 1 actually has a T'bird.

                      walc/Lee - 55 yoa on 5/7/04.
( Previously, my only experience with 55 was speed limits, I exceed, and my # in college football ).

Are you the ballplayer, who won it as a MVP award, or just a young man, with superb taste, who sets, rather than follows, trends?

Make that now 3 in the 35- yoa that have a bird. I could not be happier with any other car.
                            Thank you for posting
