Must be that many of you have not noticed or checked but you can set up a public poll for keeping track of those in your state or region. By public poll, I don't mean responding to a thread with a message but responding to an actual voting poll. By public, I mean that you can see who participated in the poll and how they voted.
How do you see who voted? over on the right side of the poll, you'll see the number who voted for a particular response. IF THAT NUMBER IS UNDERLINED, click on the number, it'll bring up another page that will list all who have voted in the poll and what they picked.
For a sample, take part in the poll on this page.
Who can set up a poll?
Whomever starts a thread has the capability of starting a poll. It can be started at anytime - when the thread is started or later in the life of the thread - but the only one who can do it, is the author of the first message.
There are 2 ways to get the poll started.
1 - when you start the thread, there is an option to have a poll, just scroll down the submit new thread page and you'll find the "start poll" option, check the yes box and submit your thread.
That'll take you to another page where you actually set up the poll.
From there follow directions for setting up your poll.
2- later, you decide you want a poll on a thread you have already started.
This time click on the "thread tools" and a drop down window will appear with an option to "add a poll" to the thread. Click on that and follow directions.
Be sure you check the "make poll public" in the Misc. Options section of the makea poll page if you want to see who voted in your poll.
I've got a public poll set up on the Texas chapter forum for seeing who to contact in the state for local events. I find it very helpful for sending out pms to the members who have responded in the poll. JerryP has used the public poll so he could see who had ordered grill badges and patches.
This is a very useful tool for contacting those within your region or state if you want them to see a particular thread about an event. Please think about using it to organize your state or region.
