Rest in Peace Little Dude

With much pain in our hearts, my wife and I had to say 'goodbye" to our beloved pug, Dude this afternoon after a long battle with Inflammatory Bowel Disease. It's amazing how strong the bond is between person and pet. I don't think I'll be able to vacuum all the pug hairs out of the car any time soon as those 'annoyances' are now wonderful memories.
Sad times in Whitby, Ontario. He was just a few months shy of his 12th Birthday.

When our lab mix passed, I said I needed time to morn and didn't want another dog.BAD MISTAKE-- I WAITED 6 YEARS. We now have had Sophie, a shelter dog, 7 years. She is 11 and I now know that I do not want to be without a pup in our home and Cheri is in full agreement. Only one thing can replace the love of a dog and IMHO is another dog.

Jeff I hope that visiting your local shelter can help you. You may very well fall in love again and become the forever home for another pup.

Sorry for your loss. We just did the same with one of our boarder collies last Friday, Teemu was 14 years old and her and her brother Teppo were rescued from a shelter in Montana after they were released in a garbage dump. They are part of our families and you will always remember them fondly.

Yes , Jeff, it hurts. A beloved pet IS a family member and losing one is a profound loss. You still have all the good memories of the fun and love that you shared together. As Spence has said, time is a healing thing. That does not mean that Dude will not be missed. Remember that you have your Nest family to help you through. We're here for you.

So sorry to hear this. Like many here, I know from experience how awful you're feeling. Hang on to those pug hairs as long as you need to. I still have nose smudges on our walls from our blind Chessie who used the walls as his guide around the house, and whom we had put to sleep almost a year and a half ago.

To all our new Thunderbird Nest friends who have wished us well after the loss of Little Dude, a heartfelt "Thank you". It's been a week today and although we still picture him everywhere and think of him constantly, we're getting through the pain and starting to move on. Your kind words and compassionate messages have helped us at this crappy time.
