The first time we met Charlie - parking lot of the USS Alabama on the way to TBN's first event Thunderbird Destination in October 2002. This photo was taken by Dot Lang. I've kept it on my phone for 17 years, because it was one of the special days of our lives. Pictured (left to right) - myself, Rosetta, BJ Himes, Gary Himes, George Lang, Bill Green, Charlie Cain, Margaret Cain, Mark Ray, Laurie Ray)

Margaret, Evelyn & I are so sorry to have learn of Charlie's passing today. We are also very sorry we live so far away and can not be at your side.

          To Charlie,
"At birth we boarded the train and met our parents, and we believe they will always travel on our side.
However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone.

As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, and even the love of your life. Many will step down and leave a permanent vacuum. Others will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats.

This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves.

The mystery to everyone is - We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty, we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life.

I wish you a joyful journey on the train of life. Reap success and give lots of love.
Lastly, I thank you for being one of the passengers on my train. "

Charlie, I will miss you, God Bless.
          Mike

Margaret, I'm so sorry to hear about Charlie. He certainly was a character (a great one) and, like others, I really hope you'll take care of yourself and get plenty of rest. My sister and I had a great time sharing lunch with you two even if he did 'unfriend' her due to her loaning you her 'trimming' scissors on the Lexington trip. You're a great lady.

did not know Charlie at all except in the early days of this Web site, I met him, I believe, in Highlands, North Carolina. MY impression was that he personified what a gentlemen is supposed to be. Probably, if not certainly, he helped keep this web site together along with many others who have contributed. My hope is that he did not suffer in his final days and wish the best for his remaining family and especially his loving wife, Margaret.

Margaret, You are in our thoughts and prayers. Have enjoyed knowing him thru the years and sad that he is gone. We remember that time we first met and glad that Paul posted that photo (with me behind the camera). I'll post another couple of photos from that time later on.

Sorry for your loss of our Stud Muffin!

Thanks for sharing him with us for the last 17 years.

Never a dull moment when SixPac was around.

He always had a smile and hug for everyone!

Check him out at the bridge in Elizabethton, during Thunder Fever in 2005. Always with the ladies! LOL!

Judy said it best but I'll add to it. Today while at the VFW I raised a glass to Charlie. RIP my friend.

Margaret, my sincerest condolences to you and your family on Charlie's passing. Even though he's been dealing with health issues for a while, it's never easy when it finally happens. Unlike many of you who are retired, I haven't had the opportunity to attend many events here except Desert Thunder II back in October 2008. It was great meeting you both back then and corresponding with you both online here on TBN as well.

Also thanks to you and Charlie for all you contributed and did for this forum for so many years.
