Its like those TV commercials sponsored by some jock you're supposed to know and I never do....
Apparently some think everybody should know some sports celeb and love them enough to buy something they're hawking.
But then I haven't watched a football game since the Jets and Colts with Joe Namath.

Broadway Joe is usually the one doing the hawking.

Really, it's only a game, isn't it? The team you cheered 40-50 years ago isn't at all the same as the one today, much less three years ago.
There are certainly more important things to consider, these days.

My school (Virginia Tech) doesn’t even have the same rivalry. Back then it was VMI, now it’s UVA.

A little ditty from days gone by:

          On the hills of Lexington
          in the fields of rye,
          stands an old abandoned $hithouse
          known as VMI.

All the walls are toilet papered,
          ashes on the floors
All the boys are dirty bastards
          all the girls are.......

My apologies to any Keydets out there. It was all in fun. Just a marching cadence from the VT Corps of Cadets.

What’s up with that? They always used to be so good.

Too many impatient fans that demanded immediate national title success from every coach since Osborne left. We've now on our fifth head coach in just 23 years since TO retired. We've fired two of them after winning more than 9 games in the season (Solich went 10-3 in '03 and Pelini was 9-4 in '14). Couple those expectations and pressure on a coaching staff with the challenges of getting young talent to come to a smaller city with less than desirable climate (compared to FL, TX, CA). Finally, the kids of today weren't even born the last time the Huskers were a contender on the national stage ... sadly the tradition is gone.
