Possible loss of more retro's

With "ALL " of Fla. being under a hurricane in just a few hours, How many retro's will suffer? Hopefully those in coastal flood zones were moved and the rest out oft harms way due to wind. The big worry in N. Fla. is falling trees.

Irma is a true disaster in the making for Florida, I hope all have managed to get to a place of safety, but as Rondor mentions, trees/limbs falling is a real problem, but then there's the flooding, and palm trees literally flung elsewhere, debris slung through the air. There are a LOT of cars on the road, leaving the affected areas, so hopefully our TBN members and cars will be safe. You know, being in the long, long line of cars leaving the area has to be pretty difficult; 90+ degrees, gas becoming difficult to find, if your car breaks down, etc. My best thoughts and wishes to those people.

Two months ago, I bought a new $63k Jag. And the previous, month, a new $56k Genesis. My TBird is worth maybe $12k.

I have garage space for one car. The 'Bird gets it. The others get tucked up against the leeward side of the house.

I would probably leave the T bird in the garage as well. The Jag and Genesis would already be in North GA or TN.

TN, specifically Pigeon Forge, would be the choice, if travel were an option. But our house is secure, and Margie can't stray farther than 20 minutes from her cancer treatment center. We're still good!

This is slightly related, but it will give me a chance to vent something that has bothered me since I was a little kid. As a child, I saw a Martian attack movie where citizens were evacuating a city. The right side of the highway was backed up for 50 miles, while the opposite side of the highway was totally empty. The same thing is occurring in Florida. WOULDN'T YOU THINK THAT TRAFFIC WOULD BE MOVED TO BOTH SIDES OF THE HIGHWAY, AS EVERYONE IS GOING IN ONE DIRECTION? Or am I missing the same point I missed as a child?

I've heard that very topic addressed twice in the last couple of days. The answer seems to be that the southbound lanes are used for emergency rescue vehicles and supply caravans bringing water, food and other necessities to those that stayed behind.

..and Fla Highway Patrol is letting motorists use the shoulders as additional travel lanes. Additionally, toll booths are not in use - free, unimpeded travel.

Our 02 Blue is in the garage in Largo FL 25 miles west of Tampa. Only time will tell how it fares from this storm.

Nobody in Fla has "lucked out". Already tornados in the feeder bands have hit Palm Bay, south of Canaveral; even St. Augustine further north is already getting clobbered by those bands. And the storm is still 12 hours away.

I can't even imagine the insurance costs for "flood damage". Millions of cars hitting the "branded title" market from Houston, Florida (maybe South Carolina, where there are many TBirds) next year.
