    Westernmost point in contiguous USA

    After being there and talking to some TBN members, I am wondering if anyone on the site has been there?

    Several of us have been to the most northwestern point of the contiguous United States at Cape Flattery, WA.

    Cape Alava, WA (due south of Cape Flattery and only slightly farther west) is the western most point. I understand there is about a 3 mile long trail/boardwalk from to town of Ozette, WA out to the cape. We did not make it to that location while we were out there. It would be a cool place to go for sure. Did you and Liz make it out there?

      This is what I found out after talking to Bill Green, so no one has made the six mile plus round trip out to the ocean but me and Liz? Cape Alava is really secluded and beautiful, but a real hike. I will ask Liz to post pictures.

        Living in WA I gotta say "Been there, Done that". Very nice spot but it is a good walk or hike depending on your fitness.

            Our route did not take us to Ozette. If it had, I'm sure we (minus DavidA of course) would have given it the old college try to make the hike. Congrats on making it.

            It would be interesting to know which road actually goes farther west, the one to Ozette or to Cape Flattery.

                      Just out of curiosity - per Wikipedia here's the difference between Cape Alava and Cape Flattery:

                      "... the westernmost tip of Cape Flattery is almost exactly as far west as Cape Alava, the difference being approximately 5 seconds of longitude, about 360 feet (110 m), at high tide and somewhat more at low tide. "

                      Congrats to Ron and Liz for going that football field farther and taking some cool pics along the way.

                        The good news for us is it was almost low tide. We have to thank Liz for the great pictures.
