  • 2002 Hardtop at no cost ??

While in NOLA two folks told me that the Hardtop on a 2002 was optional. So my question is: Why would I have a window sticker that says it was No Charge??
    I 'm confused.. Clarification anyone?

I think it is the difference in a deluxe and a premium. The premium came with a hardtop.

I just looked up the MSRP sticker that came with my 2002. The hard top is listed under optional equipment, but is listed as no charge.

Our window sticker for the 2004 VMG shows $2500.00 for the removable top option. We have the heated driver and passenger seats along with the 17" 7 spoke chrome wheels so I think we have the premium edition.

It was standard with the premium but optional with the deluxe.

This is the window Sticker for my 2002. Note the No Charge Hard Top. I don't see anywhere on the invoice listing it as Premium although the info from Quickdraw does list it as premium.

No need to worry. If you got a top you paid for it one way or the other. Ford doesn’t hand out things for free. You can bet the mortgage money on that.

I still don't understand what makes up a deluxe and what makes up a premium.( Accent interior??) Can someone post up window stickers of both for comparison?

Thank you Gene and David A... I just realized I read this from Dot's site about 3 years ago. As my doc would say memory loss " It is part of the aging process"--But at least I remember reading her site back then.(Actually ( I think) b4 I bought my retro)

Jim, Under STANDARD EQUIPMENT: the Order Code 130A indicates yours is a Premium with a hardtop. If you had a Premium without the hardtop it would be Order Code 120A. And a Deluxe with a hardtop is Order Code 110A and a Deluxe without a hardtop is 100A.

Looks like I don't have to clarify that because of DavidA's and Quickdraw's and 007Cruiser's Comments... Thanks Guys!

oh, maybe I will add some. In 2002 and 2003, ordering was different than for the 2004's and 2005's. Ford had 4 ordering codes in 2002 & 2003 as in DavidA's first comment above. That changed to just 2 ordering codes for 2004 and 2005. Because of that, hardtops became an option but only for the premium order code,130A. Hard tops were NOT available as an option for the deluxe model order code, 100A, for 2004 and 2005. (there was no 120A ordering code for 2004 and 2005 per ordering sheets)

When we got our 2005 Inca Gold, It was a Premium order with no hardtop ordered, which means it came with heated seats, and the chrome wheels as standard equipment but no hardtop. We have since added a black hardtop which by the way was not available as a hardtop color option for the Inca Gold. Luckily black and white hardtops go well with most colors.

btw, the most and easiest to spot, distinguishing characteristic between the deluxe and premium models for all 4 years was the style of the wheels.
