Extended Warranty Company outside of ESP on a 2002

My credit Union is offering a warranty through Route 66 Extended Warranty Co. Has anyone had any experience with these guys.?? Went to the my Ford dealer and they have heard of them and can't even sell me a warranty for a 2002 from any source.

Call the BBB in Spokane & ask them how they are rated and do they have any additional info they can share.
I' d be very careful here, after all we are thinking about a 15 yr old car regardless of low mileage.

It's one thing that the dealer has heard of them BUT do they accept the warranty and begin work on the car when you bring it in, or do they have to call the warranty company and wait for approval before they will begin work? And how long does it typically take them to approve the work? Or do you pay the dealer and collect from the warranty company?

they call to get approval and timing is within reason.

Jon, I read an article that said if you finance your RT66 along with your car note and decide later to cancel the policy you cannot cancel until the car loan is paid off as well.
Sounds crazy, I know, but that's what I read. I suggest you inquire before you commit if that 's what you plan to do.

Car would be paid off long b4 warranty expires. Hoping someone her has experience with this company

Hi Jon hope things are well! First snow yet out there in the wilderness?

John question as to what the cost of this warranty is. Not being noisy but just trying to establish if self insurance is an option.

My ESP was the first and only warranty that I ever purchased. (TBN threads convinced me.) Was over $2000 from our friend Lou. Luckily I had over $5000 in repairs so I was happy that I had it. Came time to renew and cost was a huge decision. I elected to do a self insurance program. Put $2000+ in an envelope and swore it would not under any circumstance be used for anything but Bird repairs EVER. ADD $50 every month and believe I have enough money now to cover any major repair. Repair costs should be covered ( find a trusted wrench turner that charges less than a dealer) and if either the Bird or I die the money can be used for................. Plant me in the ground I guess.

Their quote for their top tier is 1500.00 and the snow arrived very early this year on Sat of last weekend. About 3 to 4 inches and is melting as I type this.

Gene that is a good question, should probably at least should tell my son. Wife would never find it.

Jon, $1500 is enough of a start on a self insured program have not read anything good about warranties that are not associated with the car manufacturer.

Sandy, both the Ford Dealer and my private shop will accept it. they do have to call for approval It is being sold by my credit union

I financed my car through Pentagon Federal Credit Union. They offered Route 66 and I had it for the first 3 years. I had a $950 repair done at the dealer early on and they paid no trouble . Being retired military I always feel good when Route 66 was offered through Pentagon.

Just got a follow-up call today, Nov 15th, wanting to sign me up on an extended warranty plan for my 2002 TBird. Might try Sam's Club; they sure wanted me to sign up with them.

I went to pen fed credit union's website and looked at the extended warranties, but am I reading them correctly? It looks like the coverage is available for vehicles that are eight model years or newer. What do they mean by model years? My 2002 is going to be 16 years old in 2018, so I'm guessing it's not eligible for the extended warranty. Or does eight model years mean something else?
