  • A Sad Day

While driving my PCR over the weekend the odometer clicked over 40000 miles. Even though the car is thirteen years old and not high mileage for the number of years, I have always considered 40000 to be the start of high mileage. 20171203_135634.jpg

I used to consider 30 years old, as OLD... now at 75 I consider myself middle-aged. It's ok to change your mind, I think high mileage starts at 100,000.

No sweat, it's just barely broken in. Ours has almost 100K more than yours and I'm expecting many more years of enjoyment out of it.

Now, it would really be a sad day if you totaled it today and all you ever got out of it was 40K.

I just noticed I have added almost 50,000 miles to my VMG that I have owned for eight and a half years. Do not worry about 40,000 miles just worry about how fast you can add another forty thousand.

Kenneth, if value is of no importance, as it isn't with a lot of members, then mileage is just a number so roll it up and enjoy.

There’s a relief. I thought something bad had happened.

Yes I agree, the title should be a Happy Day.

I'd say 100k is middle age

Just rolled up 5400 so I've got a long way to go.

                          You better get busy, ha.

Are you not driving it for some particular reason?

Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel better now. My wife agrees with you. If I let her drive it as much as she wants to it would have at least 100000 miles on it.

40,000 miles was considered high mileage in the 50's. Today it's low mileage.
Some where North of 100,000 miles starts to be consider high.
just got rid of an SUV with 235,000 miles that ran like a clock yet.
