  • ABS, Brake and Traction lights coming on and off

I'm guessing a funky sensor, but recently started getting ABS and Brake light (the red one, like when parking brake is on), and now the traction light has joined the party as well. No codes showing on my code reader. Any thoughts or prior experiences anyone can share before I take it to my mechanic ? Sometimes they show, sometimes they don't... Car runs fine otherwise. Thanks guys and have a great holiday season !

Sounds like an ABS sensor on one of the wheels, they occasionally correct themselves and the warnings stop.

Mine has done this over the past 15 years but clears up in a day or two.

I too have been dealing with these off and on trouble lights. After much research and help from this forum, I found Ford Technical Service Bulletin TSB- 04-22-13. I do not know the date Ford published this, but apparently Ford knew about the problem but never issued a recall. I plan to replace both front wheel speed sensors after the holidays. I ordered the new OEM sensors from Rockauto for half what the Ford dealer wanted for them. The bulletin also directs the mechanic to drill 1/16" vent holes in the bearing housing as part of the "fix". I am reluctant to drill into a bearing housing. Has anyone else out there dealt with drilling these holes? FYI. The sensors on our birds are the bolt on style. The clip on sensor also listed is for the Lincoln LS that also has the same problem.
