David I have a question for you. What year of the T-Birds did the factory stop offering rear fender skirts ? For instance here pictured is a 1970 Thunderbird wearing the rear fender Skirts. For myself I have never seen one with them only in a picture.I have always thought the 1968 4 door Thunderbird would have looked good with them. But my personal favorite year for them was the 1956.

I believe the skirts were optional on the 1964 & 1965 Birds. Rear Fender Shields ($32.70)
The ones ordered without the skirts also had no brackets to hold the skirts.

Fender shields were available on '55 thru '66 (except as previously noted on the '62 & '63 sport roadsters due to the wheel spinners). They were listed as options on all of those years, although most seemed to have been ordered with them, and in my opinion look the best when they do have them. My '60 window sticker shows the option, but I don't recall the price, it wasn't very much (can go look it up if anyone is interested).
The body style change in '67 eliminated the shields from then on. That is an interesting picture of the 1970 with skirts, hadn't seen that before. Sort of makes it look like the late '60s Pontiacs that could be bought with the skirts, especially the '67 Pontiac Gran Prix (similar lines with those skirts on).
