  • Hardtop spacer

A short while back, folks were talking about some cars with missing "hardtop spacers", the molded plastic part the rear hardtop latch pins fit into. Specifically the spacer for the DRIVER'S SIDE. Ford part number 1W6Z-7650611-AA.

At the time, I unsuccessfully tried ordering a spare from several Ford part suppliers.

TASCA Ford recently seems to have gathered what was left in the parts pipeline and put them for sale on eBay.

I just received the next-to-last one.

Anyone interested in the last one can go to to attached link. Price is $14.41 and FREE shipping.
If not, we will help you find the correct part at the absolute lowest price on the web! No credit will be issued for any item that is missing pieces. For driver side. Applications: 2002-2005 Ford Thunderbird. | eBay!
We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.
    We're gonna make history.

I ordered one from them the last time this came up, I paid and they later refunded my money and told me it was out of stock.

I bought one from Tasca THREE times, first on November 4th and about two weeks after the promised delivery date they said they were out of stock and refunded my money. Then I saw them for sale on ebay so I bought it again on November 29th. After the promised delivery date (after extending the delivery date a few days at a time) I opened a case against them on Dec 9th, they refunded my money for the second time on December 19th. The THIRD time I saw them for sale on ebay I called them direct and then they sent one.

I also bought one and was refunded. Then they relisted it on ebay again and I bought it and did get it.

Here is something everyone that reads this thread should do.

Prevent loosing this piece. Remind yourself the next time you have the HT off to cement this spacer in place. And each time you can remember check to see if the cement you have used is still holding.

Most importantly Be aware that this little spacer comes off easily being pulled by the HT latch pin as it lifts up out of the latch.

I have one on the driver's side but not the passenger side. Just what is the purpose of this thing anyway?

On both sides it is the hole that the rear hardtop locating pins insert into... on the passenger this part also has wires attached and is where the hardtop rear window defroster gets its electric power.

these are a put on the shelf item as most of us have probably lost ours.
Washington Mike's (steelblue5505) suggestion to glue them on is a great idea!

Steward: This may be a long shot but this item can dislodge when lifting the hard top of off the car. Have you looked down into the well below to see if it may have fallen down in there .

I sold two to ISSYRO at a recent event. He has two retros but didn't know if both were missing the part. Might check with him!
