If you mean switching as in an even up trade and mileage is comparable I'd say hell yeah, but I'm bias towards Cadillacs.

I'd have to hear more about the deal before I would give an opinion. Money differential? much or none? Mileage and condition of each. Have listed the Bird as my favorite car of the 91 I've owned. Better than any Corvette I've ever owned. The XLR is IMHO a re-skinned Corvette.

Now this is from a guy that has said for years he wants to own one retractable hardtop in his life. At 70 I have to realize that time is also a factor.

As a Cadillac Allante owner active in their web-site when the XLR came out,
I held the opinion that when XLRs went below $20000 every Allante owner would want one. Only thing problematic about the XLR is the top. Horribly expensive to fix. Would not buy one without a warranty. (of course I wouldn't
Start a new love affair with an unknown Bird without a warranty either.)

Our friend Ron, a life long Ford employee and owner of 12 birds would not even consider. Given an understanding of other items to the deal, I would have to strongly consider doing the deal.(assuming my Bird friends would welcome us as alumnae to events twice a year.--- that means a lot.)

All I can say is that I’ve owned one Cadillac and I won’t own a second.

In today's world a Cadillac is a glitz and glitter Chevrolet.

If I put my wife's SRX next to my neighbors Traverse, I don't see any glitz and glitter. I see a style I prefer, much more comfortable interior, more interior options, a better ride, a more comprehensive warranty and overall better value but I haven't found any glitz or glitter yet.

I would agree. My '16 ATS coupe has become my favorite car of all I've owned...and yes that includes the T-Bird. A friend of mine had an XLR a few years back and never had an issue with the car, including the retractable top. They drive great and if you can find an XLR-V, they perform even better.

And please...no one should compare a Cadillac to a Chevrolet. The differences are astronomical.

If you're happy with the switch, I say go for it!

You have to do what floats your own boat. The real question is why you own the Thunderbird in the 1st place. I for one originally bought my 1st one (a 1957) because I thought they were cool. I now really own mine not as much for the cars as for the people the cars have brought into life.

Just bought my FIRST Cadilla 2018 Cadillac and it’s a real Beauty!! Also just re-purchased a retro Thunderbird but that is a “love affair” thing. 2 different eras and the Caddy is hands down a much better car IMHO. I’m basically a Ford man and had a Lincoln before the Cadillac. Sue and I drive an Acura MDX now and that car is really nice too and seats our 4 grandchildren nicely.

And yes, the people you meet with our little Birds cannot compare to those who drive a Cadillac as their noses often get clogged with bugs being stuck so high in the air.

So when you drive your Cadillac do you stick your nose up in the air? Driving our SRX I never have, although I have had to look down it a few times to view a Thunderbird.

These opinion posts always seem to go South somehow. I think this one was when someone said that a Cadillac is just a gussied up Chevrolet with glitz and bling. Obviously they have owned more Chevrolets than Cadillacs.
