Ric, did you look under the seats of your SRX? I think that’s where they put the glitz and bling.

Opinion of switching my 2005 Inca gold for a Cadillac XLR

Earl, unless you have serious emotional attachment to IncaBird, a really fine retro example in my opinion, the Caddy will be a new and "glad I did it" experience. The one who said it's a re-bodied Corvette is correct. Corvettes have a reputation for reliability that far exceeds that of the Retro and parts will never be hard to get. And they get lotsa looks as well.I've been a Corvette owner for years and have never had any issues. Finally, it isn't something you can't undo if necessary. Go for it!Last edited by vinnie; Feb 13, 2018, 04:34 AM.

I would consider an XLR-V. Original MSRP was more that twice the Thunderbird price. $110,000 base price in 2006.
That said, there is a reason old luxury/performance cars are cheap.
Maintenance and repair of an XLR-V will be like owning an AMG or Brabus M-B.We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.
We're gonna make history.

In the 1967 movie "The Graduate", the key word was "plastics".
Today, the key word is "parts".2010 Explorer Limited Edition, tri color white, camel interior
2003 TBird black/saddle
1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL conv't turq/black
2004 Lincoln LS 8 Sport light tundra metallic/medium stone

Ironically, my search has focused on two unlikely vehicles - 2003-2005 Thunderbirds and 2005-2007 Cadillac XLR's. I found a 2004 T-Bird with only 38K miles and and a cool color combo (merlot / sand). Unfortunately when I talked to the dealer today another prospective buyer took it to a Ford dealer for an evaluation - probably sold. (under $16). I also looked at a 2006 XLR with 65K miles - slightly higher price but think I could get them down. Again, great color combo (red/shale). I previously had a 1991 Allante and liked it a lot - top mechanism was riduculous, however and had a few issues with the car. My biggest concern about the Caddy is the top mechanism and reliability. Plus the trunk space with the top lowered looks bigger in the Thunderbird. We will see what happens...
