How did their original MSRPs compare? I believe that they were similar.

I think you are right, Gene. I found a price for a new 2003 LS Sport at $43,520. So with that in mind, they certainly did not hold their value as well at the Thunderbird.

Jerri, I own one of each. While they are almost identical mechanically, they are two completely different vehicles. Unless you're a die-hard LS fan, there are many other vehicles to consider for everyday use. Not so with the TBird.

My 04 LS Sport listed for $40,950. My 03 TBird listed for $41,545.

But, I paid over 8K less for the Lincoln.

Both cars were purchased new using the Ford Z plan.

What is the Ford Z plan?

A discount plan offered to present and retired Ford employees. There's no price haggling. The Z plan price is listed on the vehicle factory paperwork. Any other manufacturer incentives available to the public are also applicable to Z plan participants.

If a dealer really needs a sale, that dealer can sell the car at a lower price than the Z plan price. That's their call.

However, if the car is extremely popular, the dealer does not have to sell the car under the plan.

The Z plan was not offered on the first TBirds, But, by 2003, two dealers that I had previously spoken to about buying a TBird offered me the plan's discount price. That's when I bought my 03.

There's also an A plan, but, since I haven't bought a new car since the LS, I don't know if the two plans are still offered.

I'm sorry, I thought the discussion was about current value or undervalue.

That ship left the dock and sailed over the horizon long ago.

I like that but not all ships need a horizon to disappear. My uncle was the captain of this one in the early 1950s.
