My sons first top down day with his new Thunderbird on a nice sunny day at the University of Dayton with his brother, the smiles say it all.

It sure is encouraging to know at least some of the younger generation turned out ok....

would love to see a picture as I know they've been working hard to get it back up to speed. Sure it fits right into The Ghetto ( is it still there at Dayton?).

Harry, they have memories of me driving them in my car when they were in car seats. My son mentioned it's nicer now because they can see over the dash.

Bill, yup, ghetto is still there

My granddaughter is more concerned with "fitting in". Since she was born she knew the Thunderbird was hers when she got her license. Then about 10 or 11 years old she got the idea the Thunderbird was an "old persons car" - maybe because I'm old, or because most convertibles were driven by older (more affluent) people - She declared she wanted a Jeep. She would slide down in the seat when I would pick her up from school with the Thunderbird so no one saw her, and asked me please to not pick her up in that car again. One day my daily driver was in the shop and I had to drive the Tbird and drop her off at Starbucks where her friends were waiting. Apparently they raved about her grandpas cool car, so she told them it was going to be hers when she got her license. So it had a happy ending - 16 years ago I thought I would be tired of the car and would have no problem giving it to her - i might have to buy another one...

Going on the title of this forum. The future of this car and all other cars that are gas powered cars is doomed. In the next 20 or so years gas powered cars will be outlawed, as it should be. Replaced with........that's up in the air right now but it is coming and has to be done.

Yep looks like the Ghetto is still there at Dayton. Does look nicer from when daughter was there. Man those two guys sure can't deny they have the same parents!

Wow to be able to go to college with best friend/brother tooling around in a convertible Bird. Doesn't get much better.

I don't think that will happen until all of the oil is gone. To much big money behind that.
