  • I am finally at peace with my 03 interior

Just had my door panels painted in Whisper White per many posts on TBN. Thank you for the idea!!
When we all took delivery of our new cars 15 years or so ago, many of us obsessed over why Ford did not match the interior of our Retrobirds to the Concept interior. At that time, I considered a metal dash kit for my car, but could never bring myself to do that, so I did nothing. Recently I saw photos of the original 55 TBird's black and white interior. I realized that with the addition of the door panel mod to my car, I would have a car that had a similar appearance to the original:

Both 1955 and 2003 cars have black seats with pleated white inserts, black and white door panels, and even a Thunderbird emblem in the middle of the dash (thanks again TBN for that idea.) The addition of the White shift knob, and White steering wheel insert add some white accents not seen on the original.

It took 15 years, but now I feel that my interior is "complete."

PS: They tell me that visiting days here are Saturday and Sunday

I like it Earl. We have a 2003 Evening Black for which I purchased a partial white interior a couple years ago. Will be installed this summer. Also want the door panels painted like yours. I think it brings everything together nicely.

Thank you Richard. Wish I could take credit for the idea, but like so many things, it came from a creative member of TBN. One of the joys of owning one of these cars is TBN.

I'm not Dot, but I know the difference.

The black accent interior has the smooth, shiny black steering wheel top and gear shift knob. The standard black has leather in those areas.

I also think the black accent interior was later referred to as Black Ink. Dot can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

PS...very nicely done, Earl! Really like that addition of color to your doors.

For the $300+ black accent option the top of the steering wheel and shift knob were painted wood. The black ink designation refers to the color of the leather seats... the difference between the midnight black and black ink may be the 2002 black vs the 2003-2005 black. Here's where we need Dot...

Still don't need Dot to answer this.

02 Midnight Black (really dark slate grey smooth Nudo leather)
                          03 - 05 Black Ink (true black stiffer/grained leather)

Black Accent option available all years.

Have you done something with Dot? You sure are doing a lot of covering up for her lately....

DOT, ARE YOU SAFE AND SOUND?

She's chained in the basement. Oops, no basement. I do know she might possibly be out of computer range.

Besides that, since I don't remember stuff as well as I used, I've got to use what I do remember. Ha.
