  • Hartop Relay Request

    Hello Everyone,

Martin was so kind to accept my offer to purchase his hardtop for my incoming 2004 Thunderbird from Mississippi. I would like to request assistance to get it as close as possible to my home in the NW suburbs of Chicago IL (Elk Grove Village). Since I am not certain on the timing of when my bird will fly home to me, I requested that I transport sometime in July.

If there is any members willing and able to participate in a "Hard Top Relay" from Canada, I would be so grateful. I think we are considering late July to begin. Nothing is set in stone yet...just looking for willing volunteers at this point. If we talk/work together as a group to map this trek out I think it may just work.... Any takers out there?? Please... pretty please with a cherry on top?

Where is it coming from and where is it going to or am I missing something?

Be patient Lynne. Ted is having fun at Thunder on the Prairie in OK. I'm sure as soon as he sees your post he will help get it to the US on his way to TN in July. He already volunteered to get it to the US in Martins post for selling the hardtop.

carntz Delhi CN to Chicagoland IL. I think getting it into the US will not be a problem. May end up in OH and then further transport from there may be needed. Waiting for Martin or Ted to chime in to see who is starting the relay and get some more specifics. Thanks for responding :)

Just spoke to my son Mike, he is willing to bring it to Chicago on his Tbird from Dayton Ohio, however he is coming home for the summer next week Wednesday May 2nd so he would need to receive it before then. After that the soonest he could bring it back would be the fall when he is back in school.

Brad, Well she probably wants it asap and I thought I could get it to my daughter's in Columbus somehow to marry up with your sons in Dayton prior to their driving the Bird back to Chi Town.

Maybe Ted Sturgeon coming down to Ron's in July can get it close and we could store it at my daughter's (or your son's apt--- use it as a coffee table) 'til next trip home.

Easiest if could get it to Ron's would be for her to attend Elizabethton and drive it home.

              Worst case???? Thanksgiving?????

Brad Please thank your son for the offer but I believe that time table is too soon for me. I do so appreciate his most considerate offer.

I can take it to Sarnia / Port Huron border if someone could take it from there . Believe that route would be I- 94 on the U.S. side . Anyone in that area ?

There are a number of people from Indiana going to Tennessee in late July. If Ted is willing to take it down, perhaps someone would take it to Indiana. Should not be too hard for Lynne to get it from there and it fits her schedule.

I could get it down to Bill Coates next Tuesday or Wednesday if Martin and I could install it on Sunday afternoon. I'm busy on Saturday and Monday.

I'm confused, you don't want it to leave Canada until after July or you don't want to receive it until after July (or both)?

I am sorry for the confusion. Martin will hold the hardtop for me till July. I will not have the car in my possession till late June (title paperwork issues). Martin or possibly Ted will help transport the hardtop into the US approximately late July. I will need to wait till then. I may need someone from there. (Ohio area?) Just trying to get an idea who may be available in that area late July. Again I appreciate the offer, but I need to wait closer to late July for transport.

Will have to have a look in July. Bill Coates is about a four hour drive so getting it to him is no bg deal.

                              Will keep it in mind.
