Modern turbo 4's and 6 cylinder motors can kick some major ass. Maybe if the Bird ever comes back, that's what it will have. Make it a bit lighter, keep it quick and attractive, and don't price it so insanely high.

If the retro-bird weren't so insanely priced and such a Mutt of a car (a miss-mosh of Jaguar, Ford and Mercury components), they would have sold a ton and continued to manufacture them. More than a few people at local Bird events shared that same sentiment.

Change the wording just a little bit, and you'd probably be describing the 55-57 models.

The problem with the 87 Turbo Coupe is the 0-60 time. I remember when they came out new and I know for a fact an F250 with 460 would out accelerate it. I don't have much experience with 3.5 twin turbo in cars but in the F150 they sound more of a "woosh" and roar. Pretty impressive but if I bought a PU I would rather have the 5.0 just from a reliability standard. Less to go wrong. I know the turbo coupes would run forever though.

I agree...give me a V8 pickup any day...my tendency is to buy a vehicle and keep it (unless it's a bucket of bolts - see history). I don't want to deal with replacing parts I don't have to if I'm given the choice of a V8 WITHOUT those add-ons to juice up a V6 or I4.
