It looks like one we looked at 3-4 years ago in Dallas at some Corvette store. Paint was cracked like that. I just remember it had a tear in the driver's seat. Not sure what year though. They wanted something like 10k but needed paint job. I said no thanks. We looked at 3 in the Dallas are and ended up with the one in my picture. The ones in the Dallas area were cheaper but had more miles than ones back home in Kansas. I always did want a black one though.

Followed you home you say? What a lucky man! I keep hoping a Thunderbird blue would follow me home.. However, my hubby would probably tell me go sleep in the car...and that would mean outside since the garage is full. Anyways... Enjoy the new ride!!!!!

Paint is done. The whole car was sanded to the metal or fiberglass and repainted. It looks pretty good. Still saving my nickles to get the 21 spoke wheels chromed. Looks like it gonna be about 800 bucks or so. Started working on the interior stuff. The control buttons for the radio and cruise control looked like they were cleaned with the wrong stuff and looked bad. I had a steering wheel from a Lincoln LS with working buttons left over from another project. Buttons looked good so I installed them in the car. I have the homelink header and the auto dimming rear view mirror with compass to install when it gets a little warmer. I have that setup in two of my other cars and I like it. I installed the chrome hood scoop after the paint job. The car got new headlights and LED backup and parking light bulbs light. I'm going to leave the other exterior bulbs stock. Still looking for a platinum silver hard top. I have extra hardtops I can repaint, but if I find what I want at the right price it will save a lot of work.
Still trying to decide how I want to badge the car. I like the factory badges, but I want to make this car a little bit different. I am seriously considering purchasing a 3D printer and making my own. Might be fun.
I'll post some pictures when the weather is a little better for picture taking.
One more note, I just got a window control unit for a the passenger door. I plan to get it installed over the weekend. The window fell down in the door last weekend, so one more project to keep me outa the bars.
The painter I use said the cracking paint I found was likely caused by someone applying paint too heavy or poor surface preparation. He thought someone had painted the car who wasn't skilled at it.

David, if reading this correctly you already have the wheels and just need them chromed . If that's not right, remember that Ted Sturgeon just bought a set of 007s from Gene and Kelly Provost and I think he is planning on selling his 21 spoke painted wheels.

Think $800 is about right no matter where you get them done.

Bill, I have the wheels. Mike Schwartz knew a guy that was selling some and helped me get them. I'll some some chrome 7 spoke for sale soon.

Great find, Dave - love solid black cars (very elegant, IMO) ...and I agree (and have recently "relearned") - don't EVER say never

I kind of lean towards towards 03 black/saddle.

In my youth, my favorite combo was black exterior/red interior. Never got the opportunity to buy one. Loved that combo in a 57 Olds convert, Unfortunately, my 57 Olds 98 convert was white with a black.white combo interior, but after I had it painted 62 GM Honduras Maroon at the body shop where I worked (total cost $25), it looked pretty good.

GM Nassau Blue and Honduras Maroon are still my two favorite colors

The new window regulator is installed and works like a charm. Fairly easy job to do. It only took about an hour and didn't draw any blood. On to the steering wheel radio and cruise controls buttons. Should be pretty straight forward.
