  • Don't never say never

I have always said that I didn't ever want a black car because they are too hard to keep clean. I also said that I probably didn't want a 2002 because of no seat heaters ( like I really need them in Texas), and I just didn't like the way the engine compartment looked. I told Ron McCloud when I was at his home last month that the only black 2002 I would buy would be a NM and you know how hard it is to find one of those. 20180702_115349.jpg

Then I found this car and it followed me home. It's a solid car, everything works! The transmission seems to perform better then my other cars and the AC is cold. The interior looks to be in very good shape. Its a one owner car with a clean carfax. It came with all the CDs, hardtop stand with cover, Tonneau cover and orginal floor mats in the trunk. 128000 miles and some paint issues are the reasons I don't have a big investment.
    20180702_170952.jpg

Only issue with the car is the paint. It has that cracking that many black Tbirds seem to have. It all over the car, but all not as bad as in the picture. The paint guy I use is going to pull all the panels and sand the existing paint off, repair what needs repairing and repaint. I should end up with a very nice 02. It's gonna be a NM clone of sorts. It will be fun playing with it.

Good for you David. Paint the HT, 21 spoke chrome wheels, change the seats. What else makes a regular Black into a NM?

Looks like the chrome hood scoop is already there.

Interior - sliver and black dash including steering wheel and shift knob. NM logos on mats and doors and dash and shift knob, bird with wings outstretched in silver hardtop portholes, etched in., special chromed 7/21 spoke wheels similar in appearance to the painted standard wheels on the 02/03s.

As for Dave's new black car. I've never seen that kind of paint splitting apart before except when we first had our 57 repainted in 1977 to blue by a friend. Had to have it stripped and repainted blue by another friend who had a better shop after that.

David, if memory serves, the WW has NM 21 spoke on her. Does this mean they get switched to the NM soon to be cloned car?

I don't plan to switch the wheels from the WW. I like them on that car a lot. We shall see what happens.

Just made a deal for some 21 spoke wheels. I'll have to have them chromed, but I can do that at my convenience so I am happy.

Bill and Mike, Thanks for the help locating the wheels!

Now the search begins for a chrome hood scoop bezel.

David, might try Earl Butterworth, 007161947 on the site. I believe he has a couple.
