  • Trailer Hitch Anyone?

    Hello, y'all,
I just joined the forum; but am not new to TBirds. We purchased a Red 2002 in 2004 and kept it 10 years. And sure nuf we soon regretted that decision. So a couple years ago I found a beautiful Blue 2004 with matching hardtop. I drive it whenever I must do things that cannot be done with my Harley. So, that brings me to the question I have: has anyone attempted to put a trailer hitch on their Bird? I know the manual says no; but, I'd like to pull a small trailer with my bike on it. Any opinions appreciated. Thanx, ol dann

Welcome, Dann! Yes, several have done it but the hitch is no longer made. There used to be one put out by Draw-Tite. You can probably still find one somewhere but they are rare. You do need to make a little cut in the bumper cover for the correct fit.

Just did a quick search on Google. U-Haul, Curt Manufacturing, Draw Tite…..none of these major manufacturers for trailer hitch receivers show anything compatible with our 02-05 Thunderbirds anymore. Gene's probably right; not going to be easy finding one anymore.

If you know someone with a welding shop they could probably fabricate you one.

Good luck with your search Dann and welcome to TBN . There is mention of trailer limits ( weight ) in the owners manual I believe .

You can buy one that fits a Lincoln LS and it will fit real well. I have on on my 04.

Very nice Dann. The ice blue looks great!

Maybe you just need an F150 as well. Towing problem solved.

Thank you, Sir. I like the Blue better. altho the Red had two color interior and the Blue is total Black. I once had an F150 in Tuxedo Black; had to sell it..... it was soooo pretty I was afraid to use it as a truck!
