  • No Bass On Stereo Solved

Hello Everyone, we just got a 2002 bird for my wife yesterday. Noticed the stereo sounded very "thin". Joined the t bird nest to do some
research. Read lots of posts about weak sound from rear. Also read 1 post where a gentleman said to check fuse for subwoofer amp.
I did this and sure enough it was blown. Replaced it and now mega bass!
So if anyone else experiencing crappy, tinny sound, check that fuse.

In the trunk fuse box, no. 18, its a 20 amp fuse. Next to spare tire.

About 280 Watts peak base on 14Volts (alternator running). Probably limited below max in order to not blow the 20A fuse or speakers. There are dual woofers and amplifier circuits in the 2002 Tbird.

I often wondered how aftermarket radios made use of the dual woofer circuits (left and right). I suspect that, if the aftermarket woofer circuits are combined (one woofer amplifier), the woofer sound (fade left or right) could no longer be independently controlled.

Mr. Seigel, admit to having a tin ear so the standard radio is fine for me. Sad thing is that it looks like your answer is in English. Might as well be...………..

should not affect sound at all as low decibel sounds are non directional .if balanced left or right just means less bass sound total so if it it is one amp for both it would be better.
myself I had the two subs disconnected and added my own 10 inch behind the seats in middle. custom box. certainly not for everyone but I like it a lot better

              figured I needed something here

My aftermarket radio does not have left right control of the woofers and front to back fading is altered as well

So having OEM left and right woofers was a solution for mounting space and lower cost of multiple smaller woofers instead of one large one.
Of course, when you have multiple smaller woofers they could then extend into midrange audio which is somewhat directional.

certainly I agree about space and mids to come through left/right most likely impossible to tell though going through the back wall and space cover .even more through folded roof.
I do feel that for a stock audio system it's pretty good especially for 2002-2005
