  • Re: Daily Driver or Klassic Keeper

Mine is a garage queen, I don't like to take her out in bad weather but I try to drive her at least every two weeks, regardless of the season. I really like to take her on long trips, I'm usually alone anyway.

I'm fine with admitting that the care only goes out on beautiful days of 50 degrees or more, top down only (unless the sun drops and it gets cold). This is my sunny day, convertible car. It is my play car. If I need to traverse daily or in bad weather, I have a truck for that. So far, i'm having a very great time with it.

Funny this thread came up again. I looked back and realized I never voted back in '05. I posted (#24) that I'd had Goldi only 2 months (now nearly 4 yrs). Then I saw Moondoggie's "post" (#12 - Don Fox), and of course, I've had MD nearly 2 yrs now! I drive them when it's sunny. Not every day (I don't drive a whole lot, being retired), but if it doesn't require my Expedition, I'd rather be in a Bird!

My car has never seen snow or salted roads. It's garaged all Winter and is never intentionally taken out in the rain. Around here we call rust on cars Cancer and it's from too much salt. I guess I'm a Klassic Keeper. Leroy

Mine stays a my parents carport in the winter they are retired and have plenty of room, 2 car garage, 2 car carport and a barn. Dad likes it there tells his buds it's his.
Get it out when roads are dry and it's sunny during the winter. Summer it stays over at my place once frost is over let my daly driver set out side. Drive it when I can ride with the top down. Dennis

Mine is definitely queen of the garage. She's an '05 with just under 2,000 miles; only been rained on once (on the only overnight out-of-town trip she's ever been on). Overnight trips still scare me for that reason, but I'm planning on bringing her to Choo-Choo Thunder this year anyway. Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

My Bird has seen it all. Getting close to 85,000 mile service time. Car still looks great!

Mine lives in the garage, but goes out whenever necessary. I guess it could be a "semi-queen"

Mine has only been rained on once (by accident), and it was disastrous! Since then, if there's a puddle anywhere it stays in its nest. We have very mild winters, so whenever the weather cooperates year around, and I have some place to go (other than shopping), it's a real pleasure to drive my T-Bird.

Water doesn't seem to bother me, just the extra dirt that accumulates on the car when it's wet out - only means more cleaning chores when the weather is nice. So, ours are on the road, rain or shine (but no ice or snow).
