  • Valmet Retractable Glass Roof

May have posted this before but it's still interesting. Notice re-styled front treatment including different grille and removal of auxiliary lights and simplified rear bumper cover.

We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.
    We're gonna make history.

I believe it exists today I think in a private collection. Can imagine what the price would have been considering a premium 2002 was already at 40 grand.

Had to play it several times to see how they dealt with front piece of the roof, and they did it without using the trunk.

      Thanks

Coulda shoulda been. A fellow stopped to look at Baby Blue in his Z4 turbo with retractable roof. It basically took up the whole trunk!

          I have their brochure.

Interesting the shifter knob is backwards on this car.

I like it except for the glass part. Would make me feel like I was inside a terrarium. I could live with it if it had a shade.

                Electro-chromatic glass most likely.

That is fantastic. I am sure, out of my price range, but I would love one.

The retractable roof design here is quite similar to the Miata retractable. Pre-2017, that is

In 2014, the Sport Roadster concept, The supercharged concept, and the Lincoln Mark X concept were auctioned off at Sam Pack's Auction in Dallas. Those photos on an old thread are all that I have left of my visit to the preview of that auction. I don't recall that any of the 3 went over $100,000.

I give up. Trying to post link to another old thread here but program is hiccuping and won't let me add or delete changes, so,

Do a search here on Sam Pack Auction. It will show up in the Thunderbird chat forum. There are more than 60 posts (oops, make that 59 posts) in the thread with 3 pictures I posted back then. The Auction occurred in November 2014 and thread started in Sept. 2014. I decided to make a comment to the thread to bring it up and easier to find.

I do see in post 57 on the auction thread that the Mark X concept did make it to $129,000 in Nov. 2014.
