  • New wheels

This might have been covered before but here it goes, maybe again. I'm not having any particular trouble with my wheels but I do have a slow leak due to the old chrome problem. I have a tire pump in my cars so I check from time to time to keep the pressure up. It is a pain but a trivial one. What I would really like to do is order all new wheels that would be, of course, after market but with enough of the original appearance not to look after market. Something really cool would have a Ford identification. The ones I have are the ones with the little white circle in the middle. I was told by a Ford PR person that the white ring was a tip of the hat to the old white walls the original cars always had. Any suggestions.

Grind the chrome off and smooth up the bead area with sander, etc. and or try using bead sealer to cure your problem.

Send wheels to Midwest Wheel and have them re-finished to new. Midwest Wheel did the Jaguar wheels on my car and made them perfect.
We're lighter. We're faster. If that don't work, we're nastier.
      We're gonna make history.

Hey Steve Nelson, has Midwest Wheels found the set of 21 spokes that you ordered?

If the chrome on the outside of the wheel is OK, any decent tire shop can fix the rim leak like Keith mentioned.

Yes....got my “new” 21 spoke NM/007 wheels last Thursday from Midwest Wheels in the Detroit area. It only took about 7 weeks to get them!!! They had to find 4, refurbish them and then sent them to a chrome plater in California. Mike at Midwest was a pleasure to deal with....not cheap though. $399. each plus shipping but we love them. They are definitely worth the wait! Car looks great! Waiting for a sunny day here in Florida to take pix and will post. Now need to clean up the old original 16-spoke polished aluminum wheels and post them for sale on EBay along with 7 caps.

Maybe the OP of this thread would be interested in your 16 spokes!

Refurbish what you have and stay stock, unless you are really craving a new look!

I just spoke with Mike at Midwest Wheels about getting my 21 spoke painted wheels chromed, $350 a wheel and I have to deliver them to Detroit. Asked about exchange and he doesn't take exchange on these wheels, not enough demand for them.

I have some 21 spoke I am going to get chromed. It seems like around here the price is 300 bucks a wheel, but I am still looking for a better price. I'll let you know what I find out.
