  • Front Electronic Module - 2002 TBird

Have run into a problem - Issue-left window, trunk latch, horn, windshield wipers, and head lights are inoperable at times. Local dealer traced it down to the Front Electronic Module - part number 1W6Z-14B205-AA. Dealer can not find new/replacement - Ford no longer stocks the part, nor can he find it through alternate sources.
Hopefully, someone out there has dealt with this problem.
Can be reached at normzach@verizon.net or 301.997.1248
    Thanks,
    Fred Lothrop

    Welcome to TBN, Fred.
Have you read the prior posts in this thread? Have you tried using the search function at TBN and searched for "FEM"? Have you looked in the Thunderbird Garage section of this forum?

All of those issues you are describing are the fault of the fem. Don’t full around with the dealer. Contact Midwesttekmart at 734-228-8679 between 2-9pm Monday thru Saturday. He can fix your fem. Just got mine back and fixed right.

To date little success. Lots of promise from FreedomOne - said they had the part, paid them, lots of conflicting chatter between various reps. Bottom line - they did not deliver, sent the wrong part which was returned. Had to instruct bank/credit card not to honor any charges from Freedom. BEWARE - they require signature on a multi page form for additional charges if part is returned. Not applicable as they sent wrong part.
Bottom line still looking for Front Electronic Module for my 2002 Bird. Any suggestions more than welcomed.

                    Fred,
Getting your FEM fixed at Midwestteckmart.com may be your only option. I don't know anyone that has the module in stock.
Several people here have used this source. Only thing scary is you have to pay Paypal before you get an address where you send the module.
99% of sites listed here (TBN) only fix the ECM/PCM. One of those sites told me the FEM is not repairable. Wrong. But it is a way to get you to hang up the phone.

The Bird is back on the road.

AutomotiveModules.com, out of Allen Park, MI, refurbished the FEM for me. After the hassle in getting the FEM out, had the local dealer install it. Everything is back to normal

Appreciate the response from all the Bird'ers in the TBN

                              Carl,
Now I am curious. How did you get the Tbird to the local dealer for the install. By flatbed or did you drive it without the Front Electronic Module?

Inquiring minds want to know. If so this would be an option for many Tbird owners here.

It should work except door locks and window short drop maybe..
