  • Alternative Merlot T-Birds...Just a thought

After coming into the second year with my '04, I have just one reservation....Computer modules. Everything else about these cars is great, but I'm not thrilled about the computers. I know there's no avoiding it on anything newer than say1992 to1995 depending on the make.
So anyway I've had one eye open for what else might satisfy. Here's a nomination for those that like Merlot or What Chrysler Corp used to call metallic burgundy:

Looks great! Check it out, Al, and if as good as it looks buy it. Price seems very reasonable. I like fender skirts on these, glad they are included.

That's a beautiful car, Al. I loved the 64's when they were introduced - when I was a kid, a lady a couple blocks over from us bought a new one when they first came out, and her son drove it over to show me. Hope it works out for you.

Friends in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin (who also own 2 retro 'birds) have a 1966 vintage burgundy Thunderbird convertible that they bought new in 1966.
It's a consistent winner in the driver's class at VTCI meets.

Had a '67 in that color. The paint did not hold up well. Slight fade and an appearance of cracking. Bought it used just because I liked the color so much.

That one sure looks nice. I have always liked that style (personally I think the '64 and '66 are the cleanest of the flare birds). I have looked at many of these over the years and would suggest finding out its history - is it all original, a restore, any body work, etc. If it is a northern car these had a rust problem with rear fenders and particularly the trunk floor. If the underside is as good as what is shown in the pictures it looks like an attractive prospect.
                P. S. - the trunk emblem is not original, the convertibles did not have an emblem (hardtops had a key hole cover), but that is not a big deal, probably just an owner preference to add it because it looked nice. But just thought I would point it out.
