Just got the notice that my '42k 05 can still be covered under ESP. I'm debating between the Premium and Extra Care policies. Given what typically goes wrong with our Birds has anyone analyzed which policy is the best? I presume they can be transferred in case of a sale. Thanks for any thoughts.

Yes, they can be transferred...it stays with the car (it's in the contract).
Get the premium - no doubt about it!

Many threads have been posted about the unavailability of parts, particularly electronic modules. For those who still have Ford ESP, what happens when Ford says "your part has been discontinued?

Just read through my contract, section "8B page 4 Section Repairs & Maintenance Services are made with authorized NEW OR REMANUFACTURED PARTS." Then in smaller print it says "All repairs will be made with Ford authorized new or remanufactured parts or other products We authorize."

I would think that this would mean that Ford does not have to install a Ford part, but can instead install or repair with the use of a after market replacement part. Meaning that the car will be repaired under the ESP.

I HAD THE SITUATION ARISE ON MY TBIRD WITH PCM > Ford said it was " NO LONGER AVAILABLE" and I gave Service Mgr ( Flagship One )as a agreeable source for ME as it had a " Lifetime Warranty" on the PCM > and it was agreeable to ME to have FORD PARTS ORDER THE PART AND THEY INSTALLED IT UNDER MY FORD ESP WARRANTY !!!!
and COVERAGE OF MY FORD ESP WARRANTY WAS NOT AFFECTED !!!
