I have been using Lexol Leather Cleaner and Conditioner for years and will continue to use due to the good results I have had with it. But I was reading an article the other day and was wondering if anybody had ever heard of this or has tried it. The article stated that a couple times a year the leather should be moisturized with Vaseline. Yes that's right, Vaseline. It said to rub it in real good to moisturize leather with the non staining properties that Vaseline has. Then continue to use normal leather conditioners between the twice a year Vaseline treatments.Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone tried it? If so, how does it work?

I don't think I would do this, but if you feel you want to, I would experiment with a very small area to see if it actually does absorb, and if it remains greasy, which I suspect it will, and/or clog the pores in the leather. The leather in the TBirds, as well as many other new cars is supercoated with a very thin layer of vinyl, making it problematic as to how to treat it. I lost faith in Lexol, I think the formula has been changed; I now use Bick 5 and actually like it better on other leather products, so feel it will work as well as anything on the car seats. i also use Aerospace 303 on the dash, as well as the seats. If what you're already doing is working to your satisfaction, and you've been using it for some time, I would leave well enough alone. It's the same for boots, there are a lot of alternative treatments.
Everyone has their own ideas on this, so there will be some interesting observations.Life without passion is no life at all.

I would use caution as Vaseline is a petroleum product and I've read that petroleum products should be avoided BUT I don't knowl the chemicals used in Lexol either.
I do however have an old leather sectional set which the leather is falling apart, I could experiment on that and see if it can bring some life back into the sections that haven't fallen apart yet. Not much to lose on those pieces.
Meanwhile the leather is holding up quite well on our own tbirds with lots of use on them even at 15+ years other than some minor cracking of the color applied to them and I've done nothing to them other than clean with water dampened cloth when looking dirty.Limited Edition databases for 007 msg..#26 , PCR sticky, and Cashmere msg.#64

LEATHER SEATS
Your leather seating surfaces have a clear, protective coating over the leather.
• To clean, use a soft cloth with Motorcraft Deluxe Leather and Vinyl
Cleaner (ZC-11–A). Dry the area with a soft cloth.
• To help maintain its resiliency and color, use the Motorcraft Deluxe Leather Care Kit (ZC-11–D), available from your authorized dealer.
• Do not use household cleaning products, alcohol solutions, solvents or cleaners intended for rubber, vinyl and plastics, or oil/petroleum-based leather conditioners. These products may cause premature wearing of the clear, protective coating.
