I see a beautiful 57 on ebay with no reserve but it says that it is put on a Mustang Chaise Witch. Never heard this term before. Does that mean that is not on its' original 57 frame?

...it appears he's trying to say "...put on a Mustang chassis which make(s) (it) so you can..."

I don't understand, Mustang's have no chassis, they don't have a frame!
Maybe he means it has a Mustang II IFS suspension.
The motor look's like a Winsor (289-302) to me. Its not a "Y" block 312.
JMONo matter where you go, there you are!
If I'm not here, I'll be somewhere else !

Hello All
I have a wild-ass theory! it is really a 1982 car that had a short run of cars.
It would be called a Shay Replica.
They used Ford Pinto front ends with either the 4 cylinder or a used V8. If you look at the wheel base, it is too short?? The engine compartment looks a prefab fiberglass front end??>
Here is an excerpt from The Kansas City Star Newspaper:
But he knew he was looking a Shay 1955 Replica Thunderbird made in 1981 by Harry Shay.
The story behind the 1981 Shay ’55 Replica Thunderbird is interesting, filled with twists and turns. Only about 200 were made, and Burton figures there are just 100 of them left.
“He ended up building these cars, but because he reverted to the old days of taking a group of guys (to build them) instead of an assembly line, he couldn’t turn them out fast enough,” Burton said.
“The whole purpose of them was to draw people into the Ford showrooms. Most of the dealers weren’t going to actually sell them until they had a chance to park them out front and let people see them.”
When customers saw them, they wanted to buy them so orders were placed. Shay faced close to 125 lawsuits because deposits for the cars were made, but production of the cars was very slow.
“The main problem with building the cars was he didn’t have enough time to train people so you have a crew of five or six guys putting these cars together,” Burton said. “Well, if two of them miss work, it was not like things continued to move down the assembly line.”
So...what do you think now???

CV -- That makes sense and is probably what it is. I sent a question to the seller letting him know that the engine is not a 312 and that the inside of the hood looks like fiberglass. I asked him if it could possibly be a reproduction like Harry Shay made as you outlined above. He may not know what he has here. If its a reproduction, runs good and has no issues it would probably be worth the money at that low price.

Carl seems to have figured it out. Here's one you can finish yourself! It claims a maverick chassis:
