  • Interior Light

just noticed the interior light under the dash on the drivers side is staying on with the doors closed. The only way I can turn it off is by turning the dimmer knob down and I'm not sure it's fully off then.
Have not had a chance to investigate but thought I would ask the experts if this is normal..

Do you have a "door ajar" warning?

It's not a 97 Sport, it just looks like one!

No, in fact with the light dialled down, when I open the door the light brightens. That tells me the switch is working. Going to dig into this further today but thought I should throw it out here in case someone has Been There, Done That.

On another note, I had a dead battery problem recently after the car sat for about an hour. The battery was dated 2/10 so to save future agrivation, I put in a new Motorcraft 750 CCA replacing the 650 CCA.
Up until the battery issue I had not noticed the interior light problem.

Did you follow the directions in your OM after replacing the battery? Gives you specific instructions that I believe help reset the electronics.

As a mater of fact, I did not read the book. Thank you for reminding me. I'll try that before I get serious.

            And the beat goes on.
After some black box diagnostics, I have a diagnostic code B2499, FEM is not talking. I find I have no ground at relay SSP2. This ground is supplied by the FEM (Front Elec. Mod) so, that's where I left off for today. A few possibilities, one being the FEM which I really hope is not the case.
will have to wait until next week for the conclusion.
